With the thick fog moving through our area, please remember to manually turn your headlights on. Most vehicles that have automatic headlights will not turn on simply due to fog.

Notice to Registered Offenders:

Effective July 1, 2026 the Kansas Legislature has enacted a new statewide offender registration technology fee through Senate Bill 487. This law adds an additional $10 fee to offender registrations completed in the offender's county of residence.

This additional fee is mandated by state law, established by the State of Kansas to fund the replacement and maintenance of the Kansas offender registration system.

In summary, offenders will be required to pay an extra $10 fee in addition to the current $20 registration fee in their county of residence each time they register. This does not apply to offenders registering in counties they do not reside in for work, school, etc.

Should you have any questions about these changes, please reach out to our office.

We are happy to report nothing was located during the sweep. We would like to thank Barber County for their assistance, and are grateful for the working relationship we maintain with our neighboring agencies.
