Here are some of the pictures taken during our “Read Me A Story”Toddler Program. This month in May, we focused on non-fiction topics. 55 children and 36 moms attended the event. On May 6th, we “Adopted a Reptile”. Children picked out a reptile, receive a carrier and their Adoption Certificate. The program included stories, craft, and refreshments. On May 13th, Debbie Marrs was our story reader, and on May 20th, Library staff read a story. This morning we finished up “ Non-Fiction” month with our City Manager, Diana Lopez reading stories about kangaroos and actually getting to pet and hold two live babies! Thanks to volunteers, readers, to Vicki Virden for sharing your sweet babies and most of all the moms for bringing your children. DON’t FORGET THAT NEXT WEEK ON, JUNE 3rd WE WILL KICK OFF OUR SUMMER READING PROGRAM AT 2:00 pm.

We’ve had a busy April! Our April Toddler Program, “Fetch a Good Book,” encouraged kids to bring their favorite stuffed animals to story time. We also enjoyed a fun craft activity and refreshments. Every Wednesday at 10:00 AM, we host a “Read Me a Story” event where community volunteers select storybooks to read to the children. Our April readers included Braylin Miller and Justin Smith.
A highlight of the month was the dedication of the “Ralph Terry Collection” on April 16th, which showcases Coleman County's photography and history. This project was made possible through grants from the Ladd & Katherine Hancher Foundation, the Coleman County Foundation, and the Coleman Economic Development Corporation (CEDC). Special thanks go to Ashlee Miller, her husband Jeff, and EDC Director Kim Little for their efforts.
Additionally, the town celebrated its 150th anniversary with events downtown and at the new 1876 District Park.
In May, we will focus on “Explore Non-Fiction” for the Toddler Program on May 6th. The “Read Me a Story” event will continue every Wednesday. If you would like to volunteer to read a story, call the circulation desk at 325-625-3043.
Librarian Sue and our library staff are busy preparing for the Summer Reading Program, “Unearth A Story,” which starts in June. This program will feature new books, live performances, and a “Build a Dinosaur Workshop,” funded by the Coleman County Foundation. All proceeds from our annual book sale and donations also support the reading program and other activities.
Stay tuned for updates on upcoming events!

Let's try something different this month! We will introduce our toddlers to non-fiction items by reading books about numbers, colors, shapes, animals, birds, fruits, and vegetables. We’ll also share some funny videos, have a craft activity, and provide refreshments. To top it off, we'll host an "Adopt-A-Reptile" party! This popular, interactive, and educational theme will feature a plush toy station with reptiles, adoption certificates, and a pet carrier for the little ones to take their new friends home in.
