Colfax Fire Department The Colfax Fire Department is dedicated to minimizing the loss of life and property through education, fire prevention, and emergency medical services.

Volunteer Firefighters serve their communities by responding to fires and other emergencies. In some municipalities Firefighters also work as building inspectors, EMT's and or Paramedics. This position requires a great deal of teamwork, especially when fighting active fires. Our Firefighters and EMS personnel stay up to date with on going training and both State/National Qualifications. Our Firefi

ghters work under the supervision of our Fire Chief and Company Officers. Most volunteer opportunities are found in municipal fire departments, but a Volunteer Firefighter may also work for a private or public ambulance service.

[9:12PM 4/23] Here is the current status of our Severe Thunderstorm Watch. Most areas along and west of I-35 have been cleared from the watch as the line of storms continues to push east.

Sprinkles and a few flurries are possible during the day on Monday, then from Monday night into Tuesday snow will becomes more likely over about the southwestern half of Iowa. Confidence in accumulating snowfall during this time is increasing, and while confidence in amounts remains relatively low, light to moderate snow amounts will be possible in some areas.
