Did you know that Grant Parish has a public shooting complex? Through donors and the Louisiana National Guard, our facility has an educational center, pistol range, rifle range, and a s***t field! This facility is located on Landfill Road in Dry Prong and you do NOT have to be a Grant Parish resident to utilize the facility. For just $5.00 per person per day, you can safely enjoy the shooting sport of your choice. The Grant Parish Police Jury would like to extend a cordial invitation to you and your family to attend the highly anticipated Grand Opening of the Michael D. Burns Public Shooting Complex. Join us on Saturday, May 2, 2026, 1142 Landfill Road, Dry Prong. There will be prizes, food, and shooting expos! Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. with expos beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Our shooting complex is dedicated to safety, education, and the sport we love. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a seasoned professional, we invite you to experience our facility and celebrate this milestone with us. *CDL REQUIRED* Responsible for operating a variety of vehicles including solid waste vehicles to collect and transport solid waste and refuse materials, mechanism for loading, compressing, and dumping refuse. Drives to designated area to deliver refuse, safely operates the solid waste collection truck; safely operates the packing and dumping apparatus; assures that solid waste collection truck is properly fueled, equipped, lubricated, and serviced; washes interior and exterior of solid waste collection truck; reports needed repairs immediately; may have the opportunity to participate in related cross training opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain safe and efficient operation of vehicles or solid waste collection and transport equipment and vehicles. Perform pre-trip/ post-trip vehicle inspections and complete daily work sheet for equipment operated. Keep work location and vehicle in order. Knowledge of – traffic laws involved in equipment operations; safe operations of and safety precautions necessary in operation of equipment, including various types of solid waste collection trucks. Ability to - communicate effectively, understand, and carry out written and oral instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public. Requirements: *CDL license *Considerable knowledge of safety standard practices governing the operation of vehicles *Considerable knowledge of relevant traffic laws *Considerable knowledge of the principles, operation and servicing of trucks and related automotive equipment *Ability to properly use, operate, and care for tools, equipment, and materials *Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment *Ability to read and understand vehicle operator’s manual

MECHANIC

Summary:

The Mechanic works under the direction of the Superintendent. The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing parish vehicles and equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Essential duties are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills. They are intended to be accurate summaries of what the job classification involves and what is required to perform it. · Keeps vehicles in proper working condition by completing preventative maintenance schedules and updating parts

· Repairs and replaces parts and assemblies such as power and drive trains, electrical systems, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brakes, steering, and hydraulics

· Overhauls, rebuilds, and replaces parts as necessary such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, bearing, carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, pumps, crank shafts, etc.

· Responsible for welding repairs and fabrication

· Ensures vehicles meet all state and federal requirements

· Cleans, washes, and paints vehicles as needed

· Maintains records of services and repairs

· Ensures proper operation of shop equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, calling for repairs, and performing preventative maintenance

· Maintains inventory levels by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts

· Other duties as assigned

Competencies:

Employee has proven ability to learn and improve skills. Employee must be able to tolerate outdoor conditions and various types of weather.

Work Environment:

The primary duties of this position are performed in the shop. The shop environment may expose employee to air contaminants, confined workspace, temperature extremes, high places, noise, vibrations, or toxic materials. This position is not limited to the shop and also includes an office environment to complete necessary documents pertaining to the job.

Physical Demands:

As needed to perform the essential functions of the position. Which include but are not limited to:

· Ability to raise or lower objects from one level or another (includes pushing and pulling) (up to 100lbs)

· Ability to walk on uneven or rough natural terrain

· Ability to lift equipment to and from job sites;

· Ability to be trained to operate parish equipment.

· Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl as well as use of hands for various task.

· Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time

· Ability to read and write the English language

Education and Qualifications:

Position requires a High School Diploma or GED along with formal training and one (1) year of related experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

CDL License Class A is a plus but not mandatory

PART TIME CUSTODIAL EMPLOYEE

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES - THE CUSTODIAN

The primary function of the custodian is to perform the core essential duties assigned by the Parish Manager and/ or Administrative Office. The position requires flexibility; this person should know how to clean a variety of spaces and what to use to clean them

The Custodian may occasionally interact with the public, staff, administration, and inmates effectively and professionally, maintains confidentiality, performs all work duties and activities in accordance with Grant Parish Police Jury’s policies, procedures, and safety practices, may be required to performs multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner, works independently or with a team, and performs other related duties as required.

This position is a part time position; it will be for 15 hours a week @ $10.00 per hour

GENERAL DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

• Dusting
• Sweeping
• Mopping
• Vacuuming
• Sanitizing all bathroom areas
• Maintaining supply levels for bathrooms in Courthouse and other GPPJ facilities
• Watering plants
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness throughout the Grant Parish Courthouse
*Empty trash cans

QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to pass a background check
• Possess clean driving record
• Lift 50 pounds

DAYS / HOURS
• 15 hours per week
