🚨 Stage 2 Fire Restrictions Now in Effect 🚨

Effective Friday, June 26, 2026, at 12:01 a.m., Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are in effect for Mesa County, including Vega State Park.

With extremely dry conditions and high temperatures, we all need to do our part to help prevent wildfires.

Under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions:
🔥 NO campfires, charcoal grills, wood-burning stoves, fire pits, chimineas, tiki torches, or any other open-flame devices that burn wood or charcoal.
🔥 NO smoking except inside an enclosed vehicle or building.
🔥 NO fireworks.
🔥 NO burning debris or vegetation without a permit.
🔥 NO parking in vegetation or driving off designated roads and parking areas.
🔥 NO tracer rounds, explosive targets, or other explosive devices.

Allowed:
✅ Propane or gas grills, stoves, lanterns, and gas fire pits with a shut-off valve may be used, provided they are at least 3 feet away from dry vegetation and other flammable materials.

Even small sparks can ignite a wildfire. Please remember:
• Secure trailer safety chains so they don’t drag.
• Never park over dry grass.
• Properly dispose of ci******es.
• Stay alert and report any signs of wildfire immediately.

Thank you for helping protect Vega State Park, our visitors, wildlife, and surrounding communities. We appreciate everyone doing their part to keep Colorado safe this fire season. 🌲🔥

🦌🌿 Spring is here at Vega State Park and that means you may start seeing baby deer and elk around the park! While these little ones may look abandoned, their mothers are usually nearby watching and waiting for you to leave the area.

Please remember:
❌ Do NOT touch, pick up, or move baby wildlife
❌ Do NOT try to feed them
❌ Keep pets leashed and away from wildlife
✅ Observe from a safe distance and enjoy quietly

Human scent and interaction can cause unnecessary stress to wildlife and may put the animal at risk. The best way to help is to leave them exactly where they are.

Thank you for helping us keep Colorado’s wildlife wild! 🦌💚
