JFarm UMD JFarm fosters a culture of Jewish environmental education, creativity, and activism. Instagram Mary's Garden and Community Learning Garden (by Eppley).

JFarm is the Jewish environmental group at UMD and part of the UMD Garden Collective, along with the St. Founded in 2009, we aim to inspire the Hillel student body to be more sustainable and environmentally conscious through educational, volunteering, and social events related to topics like conservation and mindfulness. We take care of the garden in front Hillel and donate its produce to local fo

od pantries. We also run a compost collection program for students who live in apartments near or on campus.

"We learn from the Rambam that teshuva (repentance) has three main components.
First, we need to reflect on our behavior.
Secondly, we must commit to change our ways.
And thirdly, we have to try to make amends for the damage we have done."

In what ways can we make amends to the environmental damage that we all have contributed to? What role do YOU want to play in this process?

We are over-consuming the world.

It was so great to meet everyone at the Hillel BBQ today! Keep your eyes out for a gardening event coming up soon 🌱🌱🌱

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sukkot! Sukkot celebrates the harvest season, so try celebrating by eating locally harvested food! Usually our food travels hundreds of thousands of miles to get to our plates, which results in significant green house gas emissions and leaves us with tasteless produce. Eating locally is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint while celebrating the tasty harvest and flavors of your own area!
