A reminder of the Prince George's County Stay-At-Home order that was extended.

Today, I announced that I am extending the Stay-At-Home Order for Prince George’s County until June 1. Our graphic has some reminders on what remains closed and essential activities that are allowed. While I know it is difficult for so many, this decision will protect the safety and well-being of every Prince Georgian.

#PGCCOVID19 #StayHomeSaveLives #PrinceGeorgesStrong

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day. We remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. This year, 307 names were added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund wall, bringing the total to 22,217.

They were fathers, mothers, sons and daughters. Grandpa, grandma, grandchild (themselves), aunts, and uncles, friends, and so much more. While they are no longer with us in-person, they will always be with us in spirit.

Today and everyday, we must remember the fallen and the sacrifice they made.

A moment of remembrance last night at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. A name forever etched in time.

Members of UMPD went to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial last night. Flowers were placed at the name of fallen Texas Tech University Police Officer, Floyd East, Jr.

“Although National Police Week has been canceled this year, we still remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Our hearts are with all the survivors and we will meet again next year. To the East, Jr. family, we will never forget you or Floyd. It is never goodbye, it is good journey until our paths cross again.” – Sgt. Sean Rabold

National Police Week is from May 10 to May 16, with May 15 designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day by President John F. Kennedy in 1962. This week we remember the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be able gather in person to remember the brave men and women at the candlelight vigil.

However, you can register for the 32nd Annual Virtual Candlelight Vigil and light a virtual candle. Visit https://nleomf.org/programs-events/national-police-week/candlelight-vigil for more details.

We must never forget the lives that we have lost.

The City of Hyattsville Police Department needs your help. If you have any information, please contact their Criminal Investigations section at (301) 985-5060. See below for more information.

Good morning, Hyattsville and all of our neighbors!

We need your help locating the suspect who stole Pizzeria Paradiso Hyattsville's mobile oven.

As many of you may know, Pizzeria Paradiso has been providing a generous community service by giving away pizzas free of charge to folks in need.

🚨🚔🚨Felony Theft🚨🚔🚨

On Sunday, April 19, 2020, at approximately 8:55 p.m., a suspect operating a two-toned older model pick-up truck, possibly a Ford F-series, entered the parking lot of Pizzeria Paradiso located at 4800 Rhode Island Avenue in Hyattsville.

The suspect stole a trailer that was carrying an orange Manna Forni mosaic tile outdoor pizza oven with the name of the business, PIZZERIA PARADISO, embedded in blue mosaic tile lettering on the oven's exterior.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., video surveillance captured the suspect leaving the parking lot and making a right turn onto Rhode Island Avenue toward Brentwood.

If you have any information about this incident or additional video footage, please call our Criminal Investigations Section at (301) 985-5060. If you happen to see this trailer/oven, please call the police immediately.

Thank you, Terrapin Development Company and Krazi Kebob for thinks of us. We greatly appreciate it! Thank you for what you do for our community.

#Allinthistogether

Last week we worked with Krazi Kebob to bring meals to the overnight shift of the University of Maryland Police Department. Not only did Krazi Kebob deliver the meals for us, but they matched TDC's contribution - meaning 2x the meals for our first responders. Thank you Nomie and team for helping us feed our essential workers in #GreaterCollegePark!

We must never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We must never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Today, Maryland flags remain lowered for our annual observation of Fallen Heroes Day as we honor all those brave men and women of our police, firefighter, and first responder families who selflessly laid down their lives in service to others. As our state battles this deadly pandemic, our first responders have again risen to the challenge and answered the call to serve, just as they always do.

May God bless our fallen heroes, their loved ones, and all who risk their lives each and every day in service to our communities.

Come on, Terpnation! Let's all show our support by wearing denim this Wednesday!

Thank you to our Outreach peers for creating this wonderful infographic about victim-blaming and ways to support survivors!

In 1998, the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction because the assailant had been wearing jeans. The judges argued that, because the jeans were so tight, the victim must have helped remove them, therefore implying her consent.

This Wednesday, April 29th will be the 21st Denim Day, where people all around the world wear denim to show solidarity and support for survivors, and educate about issues of power-based violence and victim-blaming.

Wear your denim on Wednesday to support survivors! Share pictures on your social media and tag us @careumd with the hashtag #DenimDay and #RaiseYourVoiceUMD.

Unless it's for an essential job or for an essential reason, all Marylanders need to continue to stay at home.

Governor Hogan issued a stay at home order to ensure the safety of all Marylanders.

If you stay home, you protect yourself and those around you.
