UMD Advisory: Campus Power Restored

Power has been fully restored to campus. Operations will return to normal on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, with the exception of a small number of courses on Wednesday which have been relocated; students and instructors are being notified directly.

As buildings come back online, some limited impacts to HVAC and other systems may remain; if you encounter any issues, please call FM’s Customer Response Center at 301-405-2222. Individuals with mobility impairment and/or a disability who experience accessibility issues should call UMPD at 301-405-3555 for assistance.

UMD Advisory: Power Outage Updates and Reminders

Crews continue to make progress and the list of affected buildings (https://go.umd.edu/june26impacts) is being regularly updated as power is restored. Please continue to follow the latest guidance at umd.edu/aware and monitor your email for further updates.

Supervisors should continue to communicate closely with employees on any changes to operations.

A small number of courses on Wednesday are being relocated; students and instructors will be notified directly.

UMD Advisory: Stay Informed on Building Status during Power Outage

Crews continue to work diligently to restore power across campus. The campus will remain open, although some adjustments to operations are necessary. Find an updated list of affected buildings, and guidance for employees, students and residents at umd.edu/aware.

If your building continues to be impacted by the power outage, you may be asked to report to campus to an alternate location to support an existing program or event. Expect forthcoming guidance from your direct supervisor, and reach out to your direct supervisor if you have questions.

ESSR has created guidance (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qnqww1WNDwqSJxRvCECVEtfdqa-32d5iZJ1YJ1YMWm8/edit?tab=t.0) in the event of a temporary disruption that impacts the indoor temperature of a building/facility.

UMD Advisory: Power Outage Update

Some buildings remain without power at the University of Maryland due to the outage that began on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 3 p.m.

Information about this outage and restoration progress will be posted to umd.edu/aware.

Targeted communications continue to on-campus residents.

Students and instructors with summer classes are asked to frequently monitor emails.

For impacted on-campus camps, information will be communicated by individual camp program directors.

Building impacts and necessary adjustments to employee schedules will be communicated later today.

If you are experiencing an issue with accessibility in an affected building, please call FM’s Customer Response Center at 301-405-2222.

Great Job!

Sgt. McCann and Vickie, Cpl. Ottey and Buddy, Cpl. Herrera-Cruz (support runner), and MPO Dykstra and Spud joined over 60 teams and participated in this year’s Iron Dog Run on April 16, 2026. Teams competed in 14 obstacles that included hill climbs, dog carry, K-9 first aide, K-9 detection, and more.

Hosted by the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) Region 3 and Montgomery County Police Department, Iron Dog is an event that tests the handlers and their K-9s, while raising money for Spike’s K-9 Fund. On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, UMPD will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in support of our effort to crackdown on impaired driving in the College Park area. The checkpoint will be conducted from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., near the University of Maryland campus.
