On Saturday, 22 May 2021, the Easton Composite Squadron hosted a Maryland Wing, Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) at Easton Airport. Over 57 airmen participated including cadets and senior members from Glenn L. Martin Composite Squadron, Calvert Cadet Squadron, College Park Composite Squadron, Harford Composite Squadron, Colonel Mary S. Feik Composite Squadron, and St. Mary's Composite Squadron, converged in Easton for this exercise.
The site in Easton was one of three staging areas across the entire state where more than 130 members took part in this weekend's SAREX. The SAREX also included 27 airmen from multiple airfields across the state who flew 17 sorties totaling over 95+ flying hours. Training in Easton yielded over 780+ individual training requirements being signed off, along with over 70+ qualifications and 45 requalifications certified on various mission specialties including Ground Team Member (GTM), Mission Radio Operator (MRO), and Urban Direction Finding (UDF).
"Exercises like these are important for our Wing because it trains our personnel at both the operational level where planning and integration take place, and the tactical level where mission ex*****on occurs," states Lt Col Archie DeJesus, Squadron Commander for the Easton Composite Squadron. "It allows us to refine our processes and identify shortfalls to mitigate in future engagements. It also builds esprit-de-corps among our members who get to meet individuals outside their unit and strengthen relationships that can last for years. As a whole, the training increases our capabilities so our organization has a broad spectrum of choices on how to address a real-world crisis that falls within the scope of our Emergency Services mission."

to this time last year when 8 B-CC members joined others from across Maryland Wing as part of a Points of Distribution (POD) Team supporting Hurricane Florence disaster relief efforts in the area of Wilmington, NC.
Over the course of 5 days, they assisted in distributing over 2500 cases of water, tarps, and boxes food to members of the community hit hardest by the hurricane and subsequent flooding.
