A full week of student-led arborist rescue scenarios with the Wilton CT Fire Department alongside members from New Canaan, Westport and Norwalk Fire Departments.

The students operated in command roles, making go/no-go decisions, building IAPs and coordinating rescues from start to finish. Critical thinking, communication and leadership under pressure all week long. Awesome group to work with

CMC is issuing a Product Safety & Inspection for the CAPTO™.

Through our internal inspection processes, CMC has found certain instances where the thread locker that secures the CAPTO cam set screw may not have fully cured. This potentially affects CAPTO 11 MM Gray (Part # 336011) and CAPTO 13 MM Red (Part # 336013) models from serial number 23191-001 through 26085-034. If the set screw becomes fully unthreaded, the cam spring may fall out, causing the cam to not function as intended. There have been no reports of any set screws coming loose in the field, but out of an abundance of caution we request that customers inspect for the presence and position of the set screw to ensure that it is installed properly. We have corrected this issue for current and future CAPTO production.

The same thread locker is also used as a secondary method to secure the pulley fl**ge. While we do not expect any issues, CMC still advises that customers also inspect the pulley fl**ge while inspecting the set screw position.

Day 1 of 8 with the Wilton CT Fire Department.

Over the next 2 weeks, every member of the department and some guests from the surrounding departments, will go through our Arborist Rescue program — a major commitment by the department but one that brings huge benefit to the community they serve.

These are high-risk, low frequency incidents that require constant training to keep skills sharp.

The Rescue Lab at Delta Dental Stadium brought together students from across the country for a deep dive into all things technical rescue, and we were fortunate to be invited to deliver the rope rescue portion of the program.

We packed a lot into a one-day class — reviewing horizontal movement systems, rigging in urban environments, vertical mobility, and a variety of problem-solving concepts designed to challenge students beyond just “building systems.” Big thanks to everyone who trained hard and brought a great attitude to the day. Always a privilege to work alongside motivated rescuers committed to sharpening their craft.
