Last week the City of College Place, Washington recognized Public Works Week. Our Public Works team put on a full week of activities for City employees to participate in and learn more about Public Works operations, explore City infrastructure, and have some fun along the way.

One of those activities was the opportunity to climb the water tower, for those who have the nerve to do so. Chief Tomaras and Records Clerk Andrea took the challenge head on!

We had the privilege to climb the city Water Tower! Why? The City i...

School is (almost) out for summer!

It’s hard to believe, but Summer Break is nearly upon us. Now is the time to start preparing yourself and your family for all your favorite summer activities.

Emergency calls spike this time of year because people get excited about the great weather and forget how quickly the heat and its associated activities can become dangerous!

• Respect the water! Supervise children any time they’re near water. Even better, make sure whomever is supervising is familiar with CPR!
• Avoid fire emergencies by keeping grills away from structures and overhangs, and never leave any fire unattended!
• Bike smart: always wear a helmet and obey traffic laws. Utilize bike lanes where available!
• Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water and limit sugary, caffeinated, or alcoholic drinks.
• Protect your skin by wearing sunscreen; reapply every two hours.

We wish you all a fun and safe summer!

The week of May 10th - 16th is recognized as National Police Week.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th and National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

Last night, Mayor Hernandez and the College Place City Council presented the College Place Police Department with an official proclamation recognizing Police Week (May 10th – 16th) and Police Memorial Day (May 15th). We are grateful for their ongoing support of our department and the profession as a whole.
This week we honor, we remember, and we never forget. All gave some, some gave all!

Recently we did some spring cleaning, to include our patch design.

Our recent patch design was created by a local high school student and fully adopted in 2017. The new design modernizes and cleans up a few lines while maintaining the integrity of the original design. A higher resolution design was needed for future projects.

In the coming months and years, we will work to fully transition over to the new patch design as budgeting allows.
