J.P. Ingram, Brazos County Constable, Precinct 3

J.P. Ingram, Brazos County Constable, Precinct 3 J.P. Ingram, Brazos County Constable, Precinct 3 My first full-time service was with the La Grange Police Department.

With more than 31 years of dedicated service in law enforcement, I began my career in 1995 in the proud German-Czech community of La Grange, Texas, shortly after graduating from TEEX Police Academy Class #110. Over the years, I advanced through multiple assignments—including patrol officer, field training officer, investigator, and ultimately, patrol sergeant. In 2005, I joined the Bryan Police De

partment as a patrol officer. Three years later, I was selected for the newly established Neighborhood Enforcement Team (NET), a proactive, community-oriented unit within the Special Investigations Division. This assignment strengthened my commitment to collaborative problem-solving and community service—principles that have guided my entire career. In 2015, I was honored to be elected Brazos County Constable for Precinct 3. Prior to taking office, I retired from the City of Bryan to fully dedicate myself to serving the citizens of Brazos County. Throughout my career, I have embraced a wide range of responsibilities that presented unique challenges and invaluable experiences, all of which have shaped the law enforcement professional I am today. I hold a Master Peace Officer License, Basic Instructor Certification, SFST Instructor License, Sexual Assault/Family Violence Investigator Certification, and Crime Prevention Inspector Certificate—each issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). To date, I have completed more than 6,,043 hours of law enforcement training. I am a proud graduate of two leadership programs from the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas:

Leadership Command College (LCC) – a premier program often compared to the FBI National Academy, conducted in partnership with Texas A&M’s Mays Business School, Texas Woman’s University, and Sam Houston State University (44th graduating class). Texas Constable Leadership College (TCLC) – a program designed specifically for Constables (12th graduating class). Academically, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University and an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Blinn College. As your Constable, my mission is to build upon these experiences and qualifications to ensure the office continues to operate with fairness, integrity, and efficiency—always in service to the community.

Thoughts and Prayers to his family and friends during this difficult time.

It is with profound sadness that we confirm the line of duty death of Officer Elijah Garretson, badge number 118.

At our request, the Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation into an officer involved shooting that occurred on January 10, 2026, which resulted in the on-duty death of Officer Garretson. The suspect was later located, and following a lengthy negotiation attempt, the suspect took his own life.

As we begin to navigate this incredibly difficult time, we ask for understanding and patience as our department, Officer Garretson’s family, and our law enforcement family grieve this tremendous loss. Out of respect for all those affected and the ongoing investigation, no further information is being released at this time.

We ask the community to keep Officer Garretson’s loved ones and our department in their thoughts and prayers. 🕊️💙🙏🏼

The Brazos County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office recently deployed our new robotic device while executing a writ of possession at a local apartment complex.

Following threats toward management, deputies used the robot to clear the apartment before entry to ensure everyone’s safety.
This technology gives us real-time video and audio, helping deputies assess situations safely and effectively.

This was our first deployment of the device since acquiring it with support from the Brazos County Commissioner’s Court and it’s just one example of how we’re using innovation to enhance safety, efficiency, and service to our community.

Thank you for your service.

Our office recently hosted ALERRT training at Oakwood Intermediate School.

Per Senate Bill 1852, effective September 1, 2023, the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) now requires all Texas peace officers to complete a minimum of 16 hours of ALERRT Active Shooter Response training every two-year training cycle.

This important hands-on training equips officers with the skills and readiness needed to respond swiftly and effectively during critical incidents.

A big thank you to Deputies Giordano, Cowrin, and Deputy College Station City Marshal Sunderman for their excellent work in leading and participating in this vital training!
