Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department serves the communities of Collegedale, Apison, and Ooltewah.

Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1952 out of the need for fire protection for the three greater communities of Apison, Collegedale, and Ooltewah. The Department and these communities have grown quite substantially since then and Collegedale became a City in 1968 and is where TCVFD is headquartered. Covering over 65 square miles, and serving over 40,000 residents, TCVFD is res

ponsible for responses ranging from rural to industrial. Over 100 personnel, responding from five stations, provide responses to fires, both technical and vehicle extrication rescues, and Advanced and Basic Life Support non-transport Medical First Response. TCVFD is a member of the Tri-State Mutual Aid Association offering and receiving mutual aid with over 30 local communities.

School is back in session, but that doesn’t mean summer is gone just yet.

Students at Ooltewah Adventist School (OAKS) had a water day on campus, and we got to show up and contribute to the fun!

A home on Ooltewah-Ringgold Road was heavily damaged following a lightning strike last night.

Firefighters were alerted to a structure fire at 2110 Ooltewah-Ringgold Road on August 17 at 7:41 p.m. First-arriving units found heavy smoke coming from the attic of a large, multi-story home.

Firefighters immediately began an aggressive interior attack while additional crews worked to establish a water supply from a hydrant, located along the roadway. Establishing that water supply was complicated by the distance of the hose lay, requiring multiple apparatus to boost water pressure. Crews also encountered multiple civilian vehicles driving across the supply line before the roadway could be closed.

Because of the delay in establishing the water supply, interior crews were temporarily evacuated from the structure until an adequate water supply was established.

Multiple mutual aid companies responded to the scene and assisted with coverage at our stations. We greatly appreciate all of our Tri-State Mutual Aid Association partners for their assistance.

Despite the extensive damage to the home, all occupants were able to safely evacuate. Hamilton County EMS was on scene to monitor our crews, however no injuries were reported.

Ooltewah-Ringgold Road was closed during the fire operations, and has since reopened.

UPDATE — This incident is cleared. All roadways have reopened.

🔥Our firefighters are on scene of a working structure fire at 2110 Ooltewah-Ringgold Road. For reference, this is across the street from East Hamilton High School.

🚨 At this time, Ooltewah-Ringgold Road is shut down. Please find an alternate route.

We are receiving mutual aid assistance from Catoosa County Fire Department & Chattanooga Fire Department.

When neighboring departments need assistance, we're always ready to answer the call, even when that doesn't necessary mean bringing a fire truck.

Tonight, our Rehab Unit was requested by Cleveland TN Fire Department to provide mutual aid at a commercial structure fire in South Cleveland. While firefighters work in challenging conditions for extended periods, our rehab unit can fill a critical role by providing hydration, cooling, and nutrition for firefighters as they rotate work on the fireground.

We're proud to support our neighboring departments whenever they call and are glad to assist Cleveland Fire Department as they work this incident.

Earlier this evening, our department responded to a pickup truck and box trailer fire on Interstate 75 Northbound. The trailer was full of fireworks, all of which became involved in the fire and exploded during the incident.

As a precaution, both northbound and southbound lanes of I-75 were temporarily shut down due to ongoing firework explosions and to allow fire apparatus safe access to the scene. Fire department vehicles operated northbound in the southbound lanes and continued using that route to shuttle water to firefighters battling the fire.

Crews from Stations 1, 2, 4 & 5 provided apparatus and manpower to the scene. We also received mutual aid assistance from Chattanooga Fire Department at the scene, along with fill-in coverage from Catoosa County and Highway 58 fire departments to help maintain emergency response coverage throughout our district.

Southbound lanes have reopened, while northbound lanes are expected to remain closed for a period of time as cleanup operations continue and our crews complete their work alongside TDOT.

We are thankful to report that there were no injuries associated with this incident.

We appreciate the patience and cooperation of motorists who were affected by the closures and would like to thank all assisting agencies for their support.
