We have received several calls lately that were common scams and for unknown reasons, the scammers are using the CVS Pharmacy at 55 Park Ave. Several of these were calls where the caller tells the victim that a loved one, usually a grandchild, was in custody and needed bail money. Other occasions included a call that there was a federal arrest warrant for the victim, or the victim missed jury duty and there is a warrant. Please share in person with loved ones, especially seniors who may not be on social media and are often the victims of these scams/crimes. No law enforcement agency ever requires payment for a warrant over the phone. Another scam we have seen recently the victim was fooled into thinking they were talking to their bank because the number that was displayed on the caller ID matched a valid number for their bank. If you aren't sure, go to the branch or call the 800 number yourself. Do not release funds, purchase pre-paid cards, wire transfer any money, or provide social security numbers or dates of birth to anyone over the phone. If you have any questions, feel free to call us as well.
