Protect Colls Schools

Protect Colls Schools Referendum Action Committee is a group of concerned Collingswood citizens against the proposed All in 4 Collingswood Bond Referendum.

Protect Colls Schools is a group of concerned Collingswood citizens who advocate for student support, transparency and equity from the Collingswood School District. Our group is comprised of current, and former Sharp parents, parents from across the district, educators, DEI professionals, West Collingswood residents, and concerned community members throughout the borough. Our vision includes distr

ict leadership that puts fiscal responsibility, transparency, and equity at the forefront. We support district DEI work that is intentional, evidence based that includes the many diverse voices including those of differing races, languages, socioeconomic status, disability status, special education needs and more. We support the identification and removal of barriers that disadvantage marginalized community members while building supports to increase accessibility for the most vulnerable. While we recognize that our schools and buildings need support, we are against the divestment of resources from West Collingswood, the increased burden that the closure of the most diverse schools in the district, including the only school on the west side of Collingswood, would have on the most vulnerable members of our community. We believe that our students deserve investment in their community rather than divestment. We invite anyone interested in joining in this effort to email [email protected].

Over 330 DAYS without a contract. Teachers and students are missing out on things that will never come again.

Tell the Board negotiators to settle a fair contract NOW so the school community can go back to doing the amazing things that our teachers do every year.

Update on another end-of-year change due to the unresolved contract negotiations between the board of education and the CEA.

"The majority of the BoE and the Superintendent...[proposed] a referendum to buy a questionable property, reshuffle all the students, and close two schools—creating a transportation hardship for families. The voters of Collingswood rejected this idea by a 2-1 margin.

The entire slate of Collingswood Forward strongly supported this referendum.

- Rob Carlson, published in the Retrospect, 5/2/25"

All meetings are at 6:30 pm in the CHS cafeteria.

We received a question asking why we are sharing these meeting reminders from Friends of Collingswood Public Schools and not from the district.

Currently, the district is not providing public reminders of meetings in a consistent manner. Meetings are announced on the board’s website, on a page that you have to search for, or are posted at the schools as printouts, which are written in dense, technical terms that require specific forms of education to fully understand as well as being printed in all capitals, making it difficult to read. All of these choices introduce unnecessary barriers to participation for community members who deserve to know what district leaders are doing for the schools with our tax money. If someone isn't internet savvy, has reading or sight difficulties, or has no reason to visit one of the schools, they have no real way to know when things are happening. Even though they are all voters and taxpayers, people who have the most right to access.

We should always ask why when a publicly funded institution that is accountable to the voters isn’t doing everything they can to be accessible to those same people.

Show up and let them know that you expect better from your institutions.

Important upcoming dates. All meetings are at 6:30 p.m. in the CHS Cafeteria. Come and make your voice heard.

Come out tonight and let the board know that our teachers deserve a settled contract, that accepting help from the borough can do so without an astronomical tax increase for the community

Some upcoming events. Please come out and show your support!
