PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT – ARREST MADE / ADDITIONAL VICTIMS SOUGHT
The Haddon Township Police Department has arrested Axel Novaberganza, 28, of Camden, New Jersey, following an investigation into multiple incidents involving lewd and sexually inappropriate conduct in the presence of juveniles.
On August 11, 2026, at approximately 9:32 PM, Haddon Township Police responded to the area of 602 W. Cuthbert Boulevard, adjacent to the Target shopping center, after three juveniles, ages 15 and 16, reported encountering a male engaged in a lewd sexual act.
The juveniles reported that the male exposed himself and engaged in a sexual act in their presence. During the incident, the male motioned for the juveniles to approach him while calling for them to “come over.” The juveniles immediately left the area and contacted police.
The male subsequently left the area in a 2009 red Toyota Corolla, which was later identified by Detectives. Officers located the suspect and transported him to Haddon Township Police Headquarters.
Following consultation with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Axel Novaberganza was charged in connection with the August 11 incident with:
Three counts of Luring – 2nd Degree
Three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child – 3rd Degree
Three counts of Criminal Sexual Contact – 4th Degree
The defendant was charged on a warrant and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility.
The investigation did not end with this incident.
Haddon Township Police had been investigating two previous reports involving similar conduct in the Newton Creek area, near Lees Lane.
On June 21, 2026, three juveniles, ages 15 and 16, reported encountering a male engaged in similar conduct who attempted to get them to approach him.
On July 14, 2026, an adult passerby observed a male engaged in similar conduct in the Newton Creek area and contacted police.
Detectives believe this specific behavior may represent a pattern of conduct. In the reported incidents, the male exposed his buttocks and a**s and digitally penetrated himself in view of others. During incidents involving juveniles, he also motioned for them to approach him and called for them to “come over.”
Through the continued investigation, which was aided by Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology, detectives developed evidence connecting the defendant to the previous incidents. As a result, he was additionally charged with:
June 21 Incident
Three counts of Luring – 2nd Degree
Three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child – 3rd Degree
Three counts of Criminal Sexual Contact – 4th Degree
July 14 Incident
One count of Lewdness – Disorderly Persons Offense
ADDITIONAL VICTIMS OR WITNESSES SOUGHT
Based upon the circumstances and similar nature of these incidents, Detectives believe that there may be additional victims or witnesses, who have not yet contacted police.
Anyone who encountered this individual, observed similar suspicious or inappropriate behavior, or recalls seeing a 2009 red Toyota Corolla associated with suspicious activity is strongly encouraged to contact the Haddon Township Police Department. While the known incidents occurred in the Newton Creek/Lees Lane area and the W. Cuthbert Boulevard shopping area, Detectives believe there may be additional incidents or victims in other areas or jurisdictions. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to speak with their children and report any similar encounters, even if it occurred weeks or months ago or was not previously reported to police.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
