Today, the men and women of the Haddon Township Police Department stand in support of our brothers and sisters of the Atlantic City Police Department following yesterday’s tragic shooting that left two officers wounded while serving a search warrant in Atlantic City.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured officers, their families, friends, and the entire Atlantic City Police Department as they navigate this difficult time. We also keep in mind the officers, dispatchers, medical personnel, and all first responders affected by this incident.

Please join us in keeping these officers in your thoughts and hoping for their full and speedy recovery.

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, the Haddon Township Police Department would like to remind everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly. While this weekend often includes barbecues, shore trips, and time with family and friends, it is also a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

If your plans include alcohol, please have a designated driver, use a rideshare service, or make arrangements to stay where you are. Never get behind the wheel impaired. We also encourage everyone to buckle up. Seatbelts save lives and remain one of the simplest ways to protect yourself and your passengers.

Enjoy the holiday weekend, look out for one another, and take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day. Stay safe, Haddon Township.

Haddon Township Police Department’s K9 Ivy has received donation of body armor

Haddon Township Police Department, NJ - K9 Ivy has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Ivy’s vest was sponsored by Madeline Marques of Houston, TX and embroidered with the sentiment “This gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,513 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. Each vest has a value of $1800.00, weighs an average of 4-5 lbs., and comes with a five-year warranty. For more information or to learn about volunteer opportunities, please call (508) 824-6978.
