It is a source of such satisfaction to the people of this neighborhood that the fire did not spread from the Creamery building to other buildings. Hardly any air was stirring and that was from the southwest. The corncribs and elevator were in most danger but no damage was suffered by either. Had the wind been in the east, the consequences might have been dreadful. The to

wn would have been almost swept out of existence, unless a miracle had intervened. The question of fire protection is now in order…. The first thing we propose is that a fire company be organized.

Meet our team! Nick Toornstra has been with us since 2019. He works as a paramedic with the ARCH program from Mary Greeley and takes time to put back into his community by volunteering with us. We appreciate all he brings to our crew but warn you all not to play hockey with him....he takes it very seriously!

Mark your calendars and join Collins Fire and Rescue for a fun day June 27th,2026. We will kick off the day early with a free will breakfast from 7 to 9 at the Collins Community Center. There will be a parade at 10:30 followed by lunch at the Fire Station. Registration for the SXS ride starts at 11:30 and heads out at 1. Hope to see you there!
