Collinsville Illinois Fire Department

Founded in 1872, the mission of the Collinsville Fire Department is to promote a safe community by providing superior service to our citizens and visitors.

From two stations, the Fire Department currently provides service to approximately 26,000 full-time residents and many thousands more visitors each year within the City limits and to the residents of our Fire District. The Collinsville Fire Department responds to approximately 3500 incidents, each year, within our 26 square mile coverage area with two engines, one 75’ ladder truck, three ALS units and one command vehicle.

What a difference five months can make!

As evidenced throughout these photos, things are beginning to take shape with the Collinsville Illinois Fire Department's new Fire Station No. 2 Construction Project.

Designed by Archimages, Inc and under the construction management of Holland Construction Services, the new Fire Station No. 2 – located on Pine Lake Road next to CVS – will provide modern equipment bays, improved response access, advanced training space and living quarters designed to support the physical and mental well-being of our Firefighters and Paramedics.

As Fire Chief Reis stated: "This project represents a significant investment in the future of public safety in Collinsville. The new station will enhance our ability to serve residents, improve response capabilities, and provide our firefighters with a modern facility designed to meet the needs of today's fire service. We are excited about the opportunities this station will create and look forward to sharing additional updates as construction continues to move forward."

The target opening for the new Fire Station No. 2 is March 2027.

Today, we recognized and honored Chief John Bailot as he concluded his distinguished career in the fire service and his service as Fire Chief of the Collinsville Illinois Fire Department.

Chief Bailot began his fire service journey in 1982 as a volunteer firefighter in Gardenville and soon became a full-time firefighter, embarking on a career that has spanned more than four decades. He served the City of Collinsville for the past six and a half years, and his impact will be felt for many years to come.

Chief Bailot's leadership, professionalism and commitment to service have helped strengthen this department and position it for future success. Through his guidance, he fostered teamwork, built strong relationships and remained dedicated to providing the highest level of service to the citizens of Collinsville.

Congratulations on your retirement, Chief Bailot!
