🚨 YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU 🚨

Fieldale-Collinsville Rescue Squad is looking for a few good people to join our team — and we make it easy to say yes.

You don’t need to be a doctor, a nurse, or even know CPR to start. Seriously — zero healthcare knowledge required.

✅ 16 years or older? You’re in.
✅ We PAY for your EMT class.
✅ We PAY for your EVOC (driving) certification.
✅ College student? Ask us about our scholarship program.

Don’t think you can handle patient care? No problem — we need drivers too. If you can drive, you can save a life just by getting us there.

This is your chance to give back to the community that raised you, pick up real skills, and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with people who show up when it matters most.

No experience. No cost to you. No excuse.

🚌📚 School Is Back Tomorrow!

Henry County schools are back in session tomorrow, which means school buses — and plenty of kids — will be back along our roads in the mornings and afternoons.

As everyone gets back into the school-year routine, please give yourself a little extra time and keep an extra eye out while driving.

🛑 Know when you have to stop for a school bus!

When a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop sign extended, traffic in BOTH directions must stop unless the roadway is divided by a physical barrier or an unpaved median.

A center turning lane does NOT count as a divided highway.

➡️ Virginia Avenue in Collinsville: Even where there is a center turning lane, traffic traveling both directions must stop for a school bus.

➡️ In front of Drewry Mason in Ridgeway: The highway is physically divided, so traffic traveling on the opposite side of the divided highway does not have to stop for a bus on the other side.

🚌 Watch for school buses making frequent stops to pick up and drop off students.

👀 Watch the ends of driveways. Many students wait for the bus at the end of their driveway and can be difficult to see, especially early in the morning.

🚗 Slow down and stay alert. Put the phone down, watch your speed, and expect more traffic during morning pickup and afternoon drop-off times.

From all of us at Fieldale-Collinsville Rescue Squad, we hope our students, teachers, bus drivers, school staff, and parents have a safe and great first day back! 📚🚌

🚑 EVOC Weekend at Fieldale-Collinsville! 🚒

This weekend was all about Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) training! We hosted EVOC right here at the squad, with 10 students completing the course!

This was an EVOC Class 1, 2 & 3 course, training students to safely operate emergency vehicles across all three weight classes — Class 1 under 10,000 lbs., Class 2 from 10,001–26,000 lbs., and Class 3 over 26,000 lbs. That means experience behind the wheel of everything from smaller emergency vehicles to ambulances and full-size fire apparatus.

Among this weekend’s class were two of our own Fieldale-Collinsville Rescue Squad members taking EVOC for the first time — and we’re proud to say they both passed! 🎉 That means two more of our members are taking the next step toward being able to get an ambulance on the road and serve our community.

After the classroom portion, it was time to hit the cone course! Everyone did a great job working through the different driving and maneuvering stations, getting experience with different types and sizes of emergency vehicles, and — most importantly — doing it safely.

And if you’ve ever taken EVOC, you already know the soundtrack to the weekend…

📣 Backing up? AIR HORN.
📣 Backing up again? AIR HORN.
📣 Need to back up three inches because that cone definitely wasn’t there a second ago? AIR HORN. 😂

A BIG thank you to the agencies that helped make the weekend possible!

🚑 Bassett Rescue Squad for bringing an ambulance for students to use during testing.

🚒 Fieldale Volunteer Fire Company for bringing a fire truck for testing.

🚒Henry County Department of Public Safety for providing another fire truck, as well as the parking lot and cones for our driving course.

Having different apparatus available gives students the opportunity to experience how differently these vehicles handle, and we greatly appreciate everyone who helped us make that possible.

It was a great weekend of training, learning, and building safer emergency vehicle operators. A special congratulations to our two FC Rescue members who completed their first EVOC and passed! 👏🚑🚒

Another great night at Station 4! 🚑

Last night we held our monthly business meeting and training, and it was awesome to see such a great turnout. Whether you’re a brand-new member or have years of experience, everyone has a seat at the table and a chance to make a difference.

The meeting may have ended, but the work didn’t. Afterward, we staffed two ambulances throughout the night, answering the call for our community. One crew even made the trip from SOVAH - Martinsville to UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville with a patient requiring a higher level of care, while the other ambulance remained ready to respond to 911 emergencies here at home.

At Fieldale-Collinsville Rescue Squad, we proudly serve our community through 911 emergency response and the occasional interfacility transfer when patients need specialized care.

Thinking about joining? We just made it even easier! We’ve officially joined the current century and now have a digital membership application. Fill it out anytime using the link below, and we’ll be in touch.
