The Collinsville Police Department is proud to recognize Officer Loftin for his outstanding service and dedication to our community.

During the early morning hours of April 11, 2026, Officer Loftin responded to a call involving a male who was reportedly experiencing a severe asthma attack and having difficulty breathing. Upon arrival, Officer Loftin quickly assessed the situation and immediately began providing lifesaving care, including CPR and other critical first aid measures.

Officer Loftin remained calm under pressure and continued rendering aid until medical personnel could arrive and safely transport the individual to the hospital for further treatment.

His professionalism, quick decision-making, and commitment to preserving life exemplify the highest standards of law enforcement and reflect great credit upon himself and the Collinsville Police Department.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Loftin and thanking him for his dedication to serving and protecting our community.

We are aware of the post circulating in Collinsville 411 regarding a child reportedly gone missing in the Prairieview neighborhood a couple of weeks ago. Officers responded to the call at the time and quickly located the juvenile and the dog within approximately 10 minutes of the original call.

We understand the public wants to stay informed, and we will always notify the community as quickly as possible if there is a legitimate threat to public safety. We encourage the public to rely on official information from our department, as scanner traffic and partial information shared through third-party apps can often lack context and create unnecessary anxiety or confusion.

Thank you to our officers for their quick response and to the community for your cooperation and support.

From all of us at the Collinsville Police Department, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

Following the hail damage our area received this weekend, we want to remind residents to be cautious of contractor scams. Unfortunately, severe weather often brings individuals into the area who may attempt to take advantage of homeowners in need of repairs.

Please remember:

• Do not sign contracts on the spot.
• Do not give money upfront before verifying a company.
• Do not work with anyone you do not believe to be a legitimate and insured business.

Before hiring a contractor, contact the Developmental Services Department. They can:

A. Provide you with a list of contractors that currently have permits with the city, or
B. Verify whether the company you have chosen has the proper state and local permits as well as valid insurance coverage.

Residents are also reminded that all new roofs require a roofing permit. Those permits can be obtained through the Developmental Services Department, and all roofing permit fees are currently being waived. Permits are important because they help ensure the work being completed meets required safety and building standards while also helping protect homeowners from unlicensed or uninsured contractors.

If you believe you have encountered a scam or suspicious activity, please report it to the Police Department immediately.

Stay alert, do your research, and help protect yourself and your neighbors.
