Work began this week on the Traffic Signal and Accessibility Improvements project, which includes upgrades to traffic signal technology, fiber communications, and pedestrian facilities at select intersections.

Photos from Highway 15 (Audubon Road) and Highway 18 (Lyman Boulevard) show some of the pedestrian improvements underway.

Traffic impacts are expected to be limited and short-term. Drivers and pedestrians may see temporary sidewalk closures, turn-lane or shoulder closures, and occasional lane shifts as crews complete curb ramp, signal, and other improvements.

🚧 Highway 10 resurfacing is underway in Waconia:

Segments of Highway 10 are closed to through traffic. Business and local access will be maintained. Drivers should follow posted detours and allow extra time for travel.

The Highway 5 to Highway 284 segment is expected to reopen by Sept. 1, weather permitting.

🚧 Bavaria Road Access Reminder: 78th Street Intersection Closed.

The Bavaria Road / 78th Street intersection is fully closed to all traffic. Bavaria Road between 78th Street and Highway 5 is an active work zone and is not open to traffic.

Residential and business access on Bavaria Road south of 78th Street remains available only from the south via Highway 18 (Lyman Boulevard).

⚠️ Please do not drive, walk ,or bike beyond barricades or into closed portions of the work zone. You may see gaps between barricades at intersections or other locations. These gaps are there so construction trucks and equipment can enter and exit the work zone. They do not indicate that the road is open to the public.

Update on Tacoma Ave.

Work continues on Tacoma Avenue within the Highway 212 - Benton Township Project. Paving was completed last week, and seeding, lighting, and striping are scheduled as work continues this week.

🚧 Public Works parking lot construction has begun:

The Public Works facility remains open and accessible during construction. Staff and visitors should use designated entrances and parking areas, follow posted signs and temporary traffic controls, and use extra caution while moving through the site.

🚧 Highway 10 resurfacing work begins Monday, Aug. 17:

Business and local access will be maintained. Drivers should follow posted detours and allow additional time for travel. Two sections of Highway 10 in Waconia will close to through traffic as resurfacing work begins.

➡️ Highway 5 to Highway 284: Expected to reopen by Sept. 1, weather permitting.

➡️ Highway 59 to Highway 11: Will close Aug. 17 as work begins in this section.

The Highway 10 project includes resurfacing, upgraded pedestrian curb ramps, new trail and sidewalk connections, and raised medians.

🚧 Bavaria Road (Highway 13) between 78th Street and Lyman Boulevard (Highway 18) is open to two-way traffic.

As part of this traffic change, the 78th Street/Bavaria Road intersection is now closed. Drivers must use Highway 18 to access Bavaria Road from the south.

🚧 Highway 10 resurfacing work begins Aug. 17:

Drivers traveling Highway 10 in Waconia will start seeing signs and traffic control being installed this week as crews prepare for upcoming construction.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 17, on the Highway 10 Resurfacing Project between Highway 5 and approximately one-quarter mile west of Highway 43.

Drivers should be prepared for traffic changes and detours as work gets underway. Local access will be maintained throughout construction.

The project includes roadway resurfacing, pedestrian accessibility improvements, new trail and sidewalk segments, and raised medians.

Improvements are progressing along Highway 5.

Crews are wrapping up excavation and storm sewer work along Highway 41 and preparing for curb and gutter installation.

Progress is also being made on pedestrian underpasses, including entrance walls, retaining walls and connecting trail segments.

The underground utility tunnel on the north end of Bavaria Road is nearly complete with the area south of 78th Street is expected to open to two-way traffic between 78th Street and 82nd Street later in August.

🚧 Traffic alert near the Highway 5 Improvements Project:

78th Street between Highway 5 and Kochia Lane in Victoria is temporarily closed for utility relocation work.

The closure is expected to remain in place through the end of next week. Local residents will continue to have access, and road closure signs will be removed at the end of each workday to allow access from Highway 5 to 78th Street when work is not occurring.

Please use caution in the area and follow posted detours.
