Quick mailbox policy reminder as we are experiencing our first lake effect snow for the season. Heavy and wet snowfall can have impactful force on roadside mailboxes. Typically, damages to mailboxes and even posts, are caused by the force of snow, and not from direct equipment impact.

Repair or maintenance to damaged mailboxes from winter operations and the force of snow will be at the discretion of the mailbox owner.

Per the County mailbox policy or ADM-5204:
"The Berrien County Road Department will not reimburse the owners for damage to or removal of a mailbox in the road right of way while performing normal maintenance activity.

Maintenance activities involve snow removal, paving, patchwork, tree removal, brush removal, mowing or other items considered by the Road Department to be normal maintenance activities."
