We are proud to have Danny Oursler as a Captain & Training Officer here at CBVFD. He is a great asset to our organization and community.

We are incredibly proud to announce that Lieutenant Oursler has officially earned the Fire Officer (FO) designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE)!

This professional designation is a rigorous, nationwide benchmark that evaluates a company-level officer's: Education & training, Professional experience, and Demonstrated leadership & performance.

Achieving this standard isn't easy, and Lieutenant Oursler’s dedication to growth sets a powerful example for our entire department. Not only is this a immense personal milestone, but it also further elevates the quality of service we provide to our community every single day.

Co. 1 was alerted of a tractor trailer fire earlier today. Engine 1 responded with four and arrived to find a tractor well involved. The driver was able to get out unharmed. Fire was extinguished without any issues. CBVFD is proud to serve the citizens of Colonial Beach.

CBVFD would like to express our deepest condolences out to Spotsylvania FREM on the tragic loss of a member of their department. Keeping everyone that knew him in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

It is with a very heavy heart that we share the passing of Firefighter Mason Fercovic-Ortegel, who tragically died in an off-duty drowning incident at Lake Anna. Mason was only 24 years old.

This is a heartbreaking loss for Mason’s family, friends, coworkers, and our entire FREM family. We ask that you keep his family and everyone who knew and loved Mason in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Our department will stand beside Mason’s family and our members in the days ahead. We will do everything we can to support them, care for one another, and honor Mason and his service to our community.

Please continue to lift up Mason’s family, friends, and fellow department members.

Rest easy, Mason. You will not be forgotten.
