Colonial Heights Fire Marshal's Office

Colonial Heights Fire Marshal's Office The Inspections/Investigation Division conducts the inspection of businesses on a routine basis to promote public safety and the prevention of fires.

The Colonial Heights Fire Marshal's Office is responsible for enforcing fire code regulations, criminal law, and educating the public to make the City safer place to live, work, or visit. The development of the fire prevention codes came about due to tragic fire-related deaths and injuries, such as those that occurred at the Beverly Hills Supper Club (Southgate, KY - 1977), Triangle Shirt Factory

(New York, NY - 1911), and Cocoanut Grove Night Club (Boston, MA - 1942). The purpose of the fire investigation is to accordantly report the incident to the state, determine how the incident can be prevented, and to arrest and prosecute in fires that are determined to be arson. The Fire Marshal’s Office handles all environmental crimes related to illegal storage or dumping of hazardous materials, illegal storage of waste tires, and illegal storage of combustible waste.
