The Colonial Heights Fire, EMS & Emergency Management serves a city with a population of 17,010 residents within an eight square mile area. Emergency responses are made from two fire stations that serve the entire city. The Fire Department responds to all citizen emergency calls, including fire and EMS emergencies, natural disasters, severe weather emergencies, and hazardous materials incidents. The department is a combination of both paid personnel and volunteers.

Damaging wind gusts of 60-70 mph are the main threat, though hail, localized heavy rain, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Damaging winds may lead to widespread tree damage and potential power outages. Make sure to stay weather-aware and have a way to receive any potential watches or warnings!

Hot and humid conditions, as well as another chance for strong to severe thunderstorms returns for Sunday with a Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk for severe storms. Damaging wind gusts are the primary hazard with any severe thunderstorms on Sunday. Large hail, localized heavy rain, and an isolated tornado also cannot be ruled out.

Happy Saturday! We are looking at a beautiful, mostly sunny, and warm day across the area, with the added bonus of less humidity. High temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to low 90s, dropping the upper 60s to low 70s tonight. Winds will remain light out of the north-northeast. If you are down in portions of Northeast North Carolina, keep an eye on the sky as a scattered afternoon shower or storm is possible.

Today, Colonial Heights Fire/EMS and Emergency Management proudly supported the Office of Youth Leadership Group during their fundraiser for the Virginia Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics. Our members enjoyed lemonade and hot dogs for this outstanding cause. We were honored to support this event and encourage citizens to come by and help in raising funds for this great team!
