Village residents please be aware of a BOIL WATER ADVISORY from the Latham Water District. They have put out the following information:
Loss of pressure in the Latham Water District
BOIL YOUR WATER BEFORE USING
Bring tap water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute, and cool before using. Or use bottled water certified for sale by the New York State Department of Health. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.
This Boil Water Notice applies to residents of the Town of Colonie and Village of Colonie.
Harmful microbes in drinking water can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms and may pose a special health risk for infants, some elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems. But these symptoms are not just caused by microbes in drinking water. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you should seek medical advice.
What happened?
At about 9:00 A.M. on January 19, 2026, the water system lost pressure due to water main break on British American Boulevard. When water mains lose pressure, it increases the chance that untreated water and harmful microbes can enter your water.
What is being done?
Latham Water District repair crews are working to shut down and isolate the affected section of the 24” water transmission main on British American Boulevard. Once isolated, pressures are expected to rebuild and return to normal. In addition, Latham Water District staff have activated the emergency interconnect system with the City of Albany to assist in restoring the system pressure. Once the repair is completed, Latham Water District will collect bacteriological samples throughout the Town to verify water quality and ensure that the water is
Once the repair is made, it is likely that you will need to boil water for the next 2 days. You will be informed when tests confirm that you no longer need to boil your water.
