Friendly reminder that lawns AND ditches must be kept mowed and maintained — including w**d eating around fences, poles, sidewalks, and structures. With all the rain, grass and w**ds are growing fast. If you are unable to mow, the City will mow and w**d eat for $125/hour, or you may contact one of the local mowing services listed below. Thank you to everyone helping keep Colony looking nice this summer! If you have any questions give me a holler!

Slowing down and moving over for emergency vehicles is not just courtesy, it’s the law. Thankful our Coffey County friends are safe after this incident.

Whew… April was a BIG month for CASA. 💙

During National Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness Month, our communities showed up in ways that truly amazed us. Thank you to everyone who attended events, shared our message, supported trainings, planted pinwheels, and helped us shine a light on children who need advocates.

We are incredibly grateful to our Winds of Change Campaign sponsors, whose support helps CASA recruit, train, and empower volunteers to stand beside children experiencing abuse and neglect.

In Franklin County:

✨ Rock Creek of Ottawa
✨ Affordable Bail Bonds, LLC
✨ Harris & Associates
✨ Toot's Tax, Notary, and Bookkeeping Services
✨ Blanco's Bar & Grill
✨ More Than Food Foundation
✨ Kiwanis Club of Ottawa, Kansas 2.0

(We are making four posts because Facebook won't allow us to tag every amazing business that sponsored a pinwheel bouquet in one post)

And a special thank-you to all of the individuals who purchased a pinwheel bouquet. We were absolutely blown away by the response — so much so that we had to place two extra pinwheel orders just to keep up! Your support turned a simple awareness project into a powerful community statement for children.

Some days we’d walk into the office and find a note and envelope with cash that simply said, “Stopped by — grabbed 4 bouquets.” No recognition requested. Just people quietly choosing to care. Those moments meant more than you know.

If we accidentally missed recognizing anyone, please let us know so we can celebrate you properly — this work truly belongs to the whole community.

💙 Community Pride
April reminded us that Anderson, Coffey, Franklin, and Osage Counties care deeply about children. When a community comes together like this, kids feel it — and real change becomes possible.

💙 Want to be part of this work?
CASA volunteers are everyday people who choose to stand beside children navigating difficult circumstances. If you’ve ever wondered how you could make a lasting difference, this might be your moment. Reach out to us to learn about upcoming volunteer trainings. Call 785.229.8996 or email [email protected].

💙 Keep the momentum going
Child abuse prevention doesn’t end when April does. Your continued support helps us recruit new volunteers, serve more children, and ensure every child has a voice in court and in life. Donations, partnerships, and shared awareness all help carry this work forward.

Because of you, more children will have a CASA volunteer advocating for their safety, stability, and future.

Thank you for helping us change the story for children. 💙

Reminder to all residents within the City of Colony: Dog registrations are now past due and we are officially in the late registration period. City ordinance requires all dogs within city limits to be properly registered. If your dog has not yet been registered, please take care of this immediately to avoid additional penalties or enforcement action. Registrations can be completed through City Hall during normal business hours. Thank you for helping keep our community safe and responsible. 🐕‍🦺🦮

Not sure if you follow this page, but they do an extraordinary job of recognizing student athletes from across the Three Rivers League on their achievements. Not just whether they win a race or not, but how they are improving as individual athletes. Obviously, I’ve never been a track athlete (😩🤣) but I certainly appreciate that a big part of this sport is competing against yourself and seeing improvement. Whoever is running this page, a big thank you! ❤️
