A complex of strong to severe storms will move over parts of central and eastern Kansas this evening into tonight. The strongest storms will be capable of producing damaging winds of 60-80 mph, hail up to golf ball size, and heavy rain. A brief tornado may also be possible.

Congratulations to these students on completing Driver’s Education at Crest USD 479!!! This morning we spent time discussing some of the real-world situations new drivers may encounter, including traffic stop safety, accident response, driving restrictions for new drivers, construction zone safety, seat belt use, and distracted driving. Earning a driver’s license is an exciting milestone, but it also comes with significant responsibility. The lessons don’t end when Driver’s Ed is over. Parents play a critical role by supervising new drivers, reinforcing safe habits, and setting a positive example behind the wheel.

Safe driving starts at home. Congratulations to these new drivers, and here’s to many years of safe travels on the road! 💙

Attention ballfield visitors: one of our trees has apparently become a luxury Airbnb for a very active group of bees. 🐝
Until our tiny striped residents decide to relocate, please avoid the area around the tree unless you’re looking to test your sprint speed or discover an allergy the hard way.
The bees are just minding their business, so let’s all mind ours and give them some space until they move along. Thanks for helping keep everyone safe, humans AND bees! 🌳

The tree has been roped off as we have someone coming to look at the bees. Please do not go into the barrier or near the tree.
