📚 BACK TO SCHOOL SAFETY 🚸

As students head back to school tomorrow, the Colorado City Police Department wishes everyone a safe and successful school year!

With buses back on the road and children walking and biking to school, we ask everyone to do their part to keep our students safe:

🚌 Stop for school buses when their red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.
🚸 Slow down in school zones and obey all posted speed limits.
đź‘€ Stay alert for children crossing the street, especially near schools and bus stops.
📵 Put your phone away and avoid distractions while driving.

A few extra seconds of caution can make all the difference.

Let’s work together to ensure every child arrives safely at school and returns home each day.

From all of us at the Colorado City Police Department, have a safe and wonderful school year! 💙🚔

🚨 Move Over. Slow Down. Save Lives 🚨

When you see emergency vehicles, law enforcement, fire trucks, ambulances, tow trucks, or TxDOT vehicles stopped on the side of the road with flashing lights, Texas law requires you to move over or slow down.

✅If it’s safe to do so, move over one lane away from the stopped vehicle.
✅If you can’t safely change lanes, slow down to 20 mph below the posted speed limit (or 5 mph if the speed limit is 25 mph or less).

This law exists to protect the first responders, roadside workers, and stranded motorists who work just feet away from passing traffic every day.

Ignoring the Move Over, Slow Down Law doesn’t just put lives at risk—it can also result in fines and other penalties.

A few seconds of caution can save a life.

Move Over. Slow Down. Every Vehicle. Every Time. đźš“ đźš’ đźš‘
