Lloyd Reeb asked that very question. A successful real estate developer, Lloyd had built a thriving business owning retirement and independent care communities. But in his early 30s, he came home to his wife Linda and said something most entrepreneurs never dare to say:
“We could keep growing this business—and I’d love that. But maybe, just maybe, there's something more.”
That moment marked a turning point that would define the second half of his life—not just as a businessman, but as a husband, father, and guide to others navigating their own transition from success to significance.
A New Kind of Question
Lloyd’s pivot didn’t come from burnout or boredom. It came from a deeper question—one he and his mentor Bob Buford (author of Halftime) would eventually bring to thousands through the founding of the Halftime Institute:
“Do you want your next season of life to dwarf everything you’ve done so far?”
It’s not about abandoning your business. In fact, Lloyd still owns his company. But it’s about expanding your vision to live an integrated life—one where your work, business, investing, and service to others aren’t in conflict, but part of one calling expressed through multiple platforms.
