💜 Month of the Military Child Spotlight: Mia Huyke 💜

April is the Month of the Military Child ... a time to recognize the strength, resilience, and heart of military children who stand beside their families every day.

At 11 years old, Mia Huyke, whose dad serves with the 49th Missile Defense Battalion, shows a quiet strength and thoughtfulness beyond her years. She loves to draw and finds joy in the simple moments she shares with her family.

When talking about her dad’s service, Mia shared a heartfelt reflection:

“It makes me feel both happy and a little worried… happy because he’s protecting people, and worried because it can be dangerous.”

Mia also made it clear what matters most to her:

“I love everything about my mom and my dad.”

Throughout April, we proudly celebrate military children like Mia, whose love, honesty, and strength remind us of the heart behind every mission.💜✨🇺🇸

👖Denim Day is an internationally recognized event that supports SAAPM. Today, we wear denim as a symbol of support for survivors and to dispel misconceptions about sexual assault.

💜✨Month of the Military Child Spotlight: Andromeda Lopez

April is the Month of the Military Child ... a time to celebrate the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of military children who serve alongside their families every day. At 10 years old, Andromeda Lopez is proud to be part of a military family at Fort Greely, where her dad serves with the 49th Missile Defense Battalion.

“It’s very impressive knowing my dad serves in the military ... knowing he helps protect everyone," Andromeda said during her interview.

With a positive outlook on military life, Andromeda encourages other kids who are moving to new places:

“Always focus on the good things, and not the bad!" Andromeda said. "It could turn out to be something amazing and a place you really like ... Alaska and California have been my favorite states."

Andromeda knows the vital mission her dad plays a role in at Fort Greely, however, she also shared what makes her family special:

“My dad is a superhero, but it’s both my mom and dad together that make our family.”💜

What a lovely young lady and a beautiful, strong, resilient, family ... we honor you today, Andromeda!🥳
