Colorado’s 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office has completed its review of the officer-involved shooting that occurred on April 4, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute 16-2.5-301 peace officer-involved shooting investigations protocol, all officer-involved shootings that result in injury or death shall by reviewed by a multi-agency team: A Deadly Force Investigation Team.

The 2025 Fourth Judicial District Statutory Grand Jury has returned a true bill of indictment against six individuals following an investigation into an alleged drug trafficking organization operating in El Paso County between July 1, 2025, and November 14, 2025.

The investigation began with the Colorado Springs Police Department. As investigators uncovered evidence of a large-scale drug distribution operation, the Drug Enforcement Administration assumed primary investigative responsibility. Working alongside local and federal task force partners, investigators identified a sophisticated alleged drug trafficking organization operating from Mexico and potentially distributing narcotics across the Pikes Peak region.

Law enforcement seized more than 300,000 (this number has been updated) suspected fentanyl pills, along with significant quantities of methamphetamine, he**in (this substance has been updated), fi****ms, and cash.

As with all defendants, the defendants named in the below release are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Today (June 30, 2026), an El Paso County District Court Judge found the proof evident and the presumption great (pursuant to C.R.S. 16-4-101(1)) that Kimberlee Singler committed first degree murder and probable cause that Ms. Singler committed the additional crimes alleged in the complaint and information in 23CR5656.

The following seven charges were bound over for trial:
- First Degree Murder After Deliberation (two counts); CRS 18-3-102(1)(a), a Class One Felony
- First Degree Murder – Victim Under 12/POS of Trust (two counts); CRS 18-3-102(1)(f), a Class One Felony
- Attempted First Degree Murder After Deliberation; CRS 18-3-102(1)(a);18-2-101, a Class Two Felony
- Attempted First Degree Murder – Victim Under 12/POS of Trust; CRS 18-3-102(1)(f);18-2-101, a Class Two Felony
- First Degree Assault – Significant Bodily Injury w/Deadly Weapon; CRS 18-3-202(1)(a), a Class Three Felony

Ms. Singler is set to appear for an Arraignment Hearing on August 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Division 22.

As with all defendants, Ms. Singler is considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
