👏 Meet David Spackman — 36 Years of Dedication at AMR Colorado Springs!

From the very first day he joined American Medical Response, David has been a cornerstone of our operation. Today, as our Logistics Supervisor and Materials Manager Associate (MMA) Supervisor, he leads a vital team that keeps our ambulances ready to roll 24/7.

Every single day, David and his crew of 10 prepare approximately 30 vehicles — carefully checking expiration dates, restocking supplies, washing, and fully equipping each ambulance so that when the next emergency call comes in, our paramedics and EMTs have exactly what they need, right when they need it.

This critical behind-the-scenes work ensures our fleet is always in peak condition, allowing our teams to deliver fast, reliable, and life-saving care across Colorado Springs and El Paso County without interruption. In emergency services, preparation like this saves precious minutes — and lives.

David, thank you for 36 incredible years of service, your leadership, and your unwavering commitment to excellence. AMR Colorado Springs is stronger and better because of you! ❤️

Memorial Day Reflection from AMR Colorado Springs

On this solemn Memorial Day, AMR Colorado Springs pauses with deep reverence to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation.

In Colorado Springs — home to a disproportionately high number of military installations, active service members, veterans, and their families — we are profoundly aware that many among us carry the personal weight of loss. Friends, loved ones, and former comrades of the fallen walk our streets, serve in our community, and call this place home.

AMR prides itself as a veteran-friendly employer and has welcomed thousands of team members over the years who are veterans or transitioning service members into roles such as EMTs, paramedics, pilots, nurses, mechanics, and dispatchers. All of them have a close connection to others who did not survive their service to our country.

Memorial Day is not a day of celebration for us, but a somber and painful day of remembrance. It is a time when the echoes of service and sacrifice resonate most strongly through our close-knit military community. As the 9-1-1 emergency medical provider for Colorado Springs and El Paso County, AMR considers it our highest honor and privilege to serve those who have given so much.

We are fortunate beyond measure to stand alongside this great military community — to provide compassionate, immediate care to the families and friends who mourn today, and every day for the rest of their lives. Our dedicated paramedics, EMTs, and support teams respond with professionalism and heart, offering the protection of skilled medical professionals to those who protected our freedoms.

In doing so, we strive to improve lives in the very communities built on the foundation of liberty and security that our fallen heroes secured for us all.

To every Gold Star family, veteran, service member, and neighbor carrying the quiet burden of remembrance: we see you, we honor you, and we stand ready to serve you. Your sacrifices ensure that we may all live in freedom. Today and always, we remember.

With profound respect and gratitude. -- AMR Colorado Springs, El Paso County.

🚨💙 EMS Week Spotlight: EMS for Children Day! 🚑👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Happy Wednesday, Colorado Springs! As we hit the heart of National EMS Week 2026 (May 17–23, theme: Improving Outcomes, Together), today we shine a special light on the littlest patients in our community — our kids. This comes after Sunday's celebration of Health, Wellness & Resilience, Monday's focus on EMS Education, and Tuesday's appreciation of EMS Safety.

At AMR Colorado Springs, our crews don’t just respond to emergencies — they show up with skill, compassion, and that extra layer of care when it’s a child who needs us most.

Whether it’s a sudden illness, an injury on the playground, or supporting families through scary moments, our paramedics and EMTs bring calm expertise and genuine heart to every pediatric call. We train relentlessly, partner closely with our hospital teams (special shout out to Children's Hospital Colorado), and treat every little one like they’re our own. ❤️

This week, we’re bursting with pride for our entire AMR family — the dedicated professionals who answer the call 24/7, rain or shine, because they truly love serving this community we call home. Every member of our Colorado Springs AMR team makes a real difference in people’s lives every single day and through the night, and they all begin each shift with passion and an indescribable sense of satisfaction that comes with saving lives and improving public safety and health.

To all Colorado Springs and El Paso County leadership, and the residents they represent: Thank you for trusting us with what matters most — especially our community's children, who represent the future. Together, we’re building stronger, safer outcomes for every generation.

Drop a ❤️ or 🚑 if you’re grateful for our EMS heroes today! Tag an AMR crew member or first responder who inspires you. Let’s keep celebrating all week long!

May 17–23, 2026 | Theme: Improving Outcomes, Together

Hey Colorado Springs! This week we’re shining a bright light on the incredible men and women who answer the call every single day—your hometown AMR team!

National EMS Week is our annual celebration of the dedicated EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and support heroes who provide lifesaving care when it matters most. Since 1974, communities across the nation have come together to honor the frontline professionals who rush toward emergencies while everyone else is heading the other way.

At AMR Colorado Springs (part of Global Medical Response), we’re beyond proud to be your 9-1-1 EMS provider. Every shift, our crews deliver compassionate, expert care—whether it’s a heart attack, a car crash, a breathing emergency, or helping someone through their toughest moment. We don’t just respond... we improve outcomes, together—with our hospital partners, fire departments, law enforcement, and you, our community.

Why it matters:

In those critical minutes, the right care at the right time changes everything—from saving a life to helping a family stay whole. Our teams bring advanced skills, cool heads under pressure, and big hearts to every call. That’s the AMR way: ready when you need us, because we genuinely love what we do.

To our amazing AMR family—thank you for your courage, compassion, and commitment. You make us all so proud to wear the patch and serve this community we call home! 💪❤️

Colorado Springs, thank YOU for trusting us, supporting us, and cheering us on. Let’s keep building stronger outcomes together!

🚨 Hey neighbors – want to help your Colorado Springs AMR crews reach you faster in an emergency? (Because every second counts!)

We race against the clock every day, but sometimes the biggest delay isn’t traffic… it’s a house that plays hide-and-seek with its address numbers. 😅

Here’s how you can be a superhero for first responders (and yourself):

* Make those numbers POP — Use large, high-contrast numbers (at least 4 inches tall) that are easy to read from the street, day or night.

* Go reflective or illuminated — Reflective numbers or a simple light can make all the difference after dark.

* Clear the clutter — Keep trees, shrubs, flags, decorations, or anything else from blocking the view.

* Mailbox love — Put numbers on both sides of your mailbox and on the curb if possible.

* Apartment residents — Double-check your building and unit numbers are clearly visible and let management know if they need updating.

A few minutes and a trip to the hardware store could literally save precious minutes when you or a loved one needs us most. Your AMR team is always ready to care for the world at a moment’s notice — help us find you so we can do just that! ❤️

🚨 What EMS Can — and Cannot — Do

Hey Colorado Springs! Your friends and neighbors with AMR show up when things go sideways — and we absolutely love what we do. Think of us as your local life-saving neighbors who happen to drive really cool trucks equipped with highly trained medical professionals and state-of-the-art, life-saving equipment and medication.
We would like to bring Spiderman + Wonder Woman + Iron Man to every emergency in the Pikes Peak region. While we work to crack the superhero code (and that could take a while), here’s a checklist of what we can and cannot do as Coloradans and incoming tourists embark upon summer travels and adventures that increase demand for what we do.

What we CAN do:

✅ Rush in and deliver immediate, lifesaving medical care — heart attacks, strokes, car crashes, breathing emergencies, seizures, and all the other “oh no” moments.
✅ Provide advanced life support, CPR, medications, stop serious bleeding, and get you safely to the hospital — fast.
✅ Work shoulder-to-shoulder with fire crews, law enforcement, and Flight For Life like a well-oiled team.
✅ Show up 24/7/365, no matter the weather — rain, snow, ice, or that random Colorado hailstorm.

What we CANNOT do:

❌ We’re not the police — we don’t write tickets, investigate crimes, or direct traffic (we leave that to the professionals with the cool lights).
❌ We’re not a hospital — we stabilize you and get you there quickly so the amazing doctors and nurses can work their magic.
❌ We’re not your primary care doctor or urgent care — sprained ankles and sore throats are better handled during normal business hours!

Bottom line: When seconds count, AMR has your back. We show up fast, care deeply, and do everything possible to get you safely to the hospital.

Thank you for trusting us with the most important thing in the world — your life and the lives of the people you love. We’re truly honored and proud to be your hometown EMS team.

AMR Colorado Springs — ready when you need life-saving professionals who love what they do.

🚨 Behind the Scenes: How AMR Colorado Springs Keeps Our Community Safe Every Day! ❤️

At AMR Colorado Springs, readiness isn’t just a goal — it’s our commitment embraced with the pride that comes from improving lives. With a dedicated team of ~250 highly trained paramedics and EMTs responding to around 62,000 calls a year, we’re prepared before the call even comes in.

Our crews stay sharp through ongoing continuing education, quarterly CPR training, and hands-on field programs that mentor the next generation of EMS heroes.

We use smart system planning and dynamic deployment to position ambulances where they’re needed most, ensuring rapid, compassionate care when seconds count.

Plus, our teams give back with over 1,200 volunteer hours annually at local events and special programs like Sentimental Journey, which provides life-enhancing day trips for terminally ill patients. Our Home for the Holidays program ensures that elderly or mobility-impaired residents leave care facilities safely to spend Thanksgiving or Christmas with their families (more on these programs arriving in future posts).

AMR is proud to partner with El Paso County and the Colorado Springs community — trained, equipped, and always ready to serve YOU and those you love. Thank you for trusting AMR with what matters most. 💙

🌨️ Winter Storm Advisory from Your AMR Colorado Springs Team

As another winter storm moves through the Pikes Peak region, we want to remind everyone: Drive with care and give yourself extra time. At American Medical Response, we’re incredibly proud to roll out no matter what Mother Nature throws our way — snow, ice, wind, or freezing temperatures. Our crews are fully prepared and ready 24/7 to provide assistance, comfort, and life-saving care to our community.

Here’s how you can help keep everyone safe and avoid collisions, rollovers, and serious injuries:

* Slow down and drive according to conditions — even if the roads look clear.

* Keep a great distance between you and the car ahead. In winter weather, stopping distances can triple or more. Extra space gives you time to react safely.

* Watch for freeze-thaw cycles: Snow melts a bit in the sun during the day, then quickly refreezes at night or in shaded areas, creating dangerous black ice. These invisible patches can appear suddenly and cause instant loss of traction.

* Avoid sudden braking, quick lane changes, or accelerating too fast.

We see the results of winter driving incidents every year — and we’re honored to be there when people need us most. But the best outcome is preventing those calls altogether.

Stay safe out there, Colorado Springs. If you must drive, stay alert and patient. If an emergency arises, we’ve got your back — no matter the weather.

Proudly serving you through every storm ❄️
