A SCHOOL DESIGNED AROUND A SPECIFIC NEED
This school fills a need in the Pikes Peak Region for students who are academically "gifted" and need to work above grade level, often substantially so, in one or more academic areas, from the beginning of their school careers. This means that there is less repetition provided than typical programs, with much more challenging content and complexity than typ
ical grade-level expectations. We have students who taught themselves to read in preschool or began adding, and understanding multiplication concepts at age four; students who devour advanced scientific concepts; and elementary artists who complete works of art at a "high school" skill level. These children are "asynchronous" learners who have unusual developmental patterns, and the needs of these students are different than students who are more aligned with typical developmental stages for children. We believe ALL children everywhere are amazing, precious gifts to our world, and all students deserve to be in an academic situation that is appropriate for their individual learning needs.
