Head into Colorado Art of Facts and grab a piece of local Colorado history!

This place has a wide range of Colorado history to choose from and I could spend hours browsing and listening to the stories from Tim of each item in there.

The Blue Hour in Garden of the Gods.

The “blue hour” is the brief window just before sunrise or just after sunset when the sun has dipped below the horizon and the sky takes on deep, rich blue tones. For humans, it creates a calm, almost dreamlike atmosphere—colors soften, shadows fade, and the landscape feels peaceful and still. For wildlife, it’s a time of transition: daytime animals settle in, nighttime creatures begin to stir, and species like deer become most active in the low light. It’s a quiet moment where the day hands off to the night, and nature shifts gears.

Right next to Colorado’s oldest prison sits the Museum of Colorado Prisons, built inside the old women’s prison from the 1930s. The history here goes all the way back to territorial days—before Colorado was even a state.

What makes this place different is how real it feels. The original cells are still there, filled with things inmates actually made and used—some of it pretty unsettling.

Walking through it, there’s a heavy, almost eerie feeling. The kind of place where the past doesn’t feel that far away. You can almost imagine what it was like to be locked inside those walls.
