Pikes Peak Composite Squadron - Civil Air Patrol

The Pikes Peak Composite Squadron is one of the largest squadrons in the Colorado Wing with approximately 150 adult (senior members) and youth (cadet) volunteers who are very active in all three mission areas of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), including Aerospace Education, Cadet Programs, and Emergency Services. Our headquarters is located on Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, but we often meet in

facilities around the city, including the North Colorado Springs Readiness Center, the Meadowlake Airport MLAA Hangar (KFLY), and the Vosler NCO Academy. Our award-winning Aerospace Education program targets both internal and external audiences and includes an educator-focused Aerospace Education Member (AEM) category that brings STEM kits and other aerospace resources into local schools. We also provide Teacher Orientation Flights in our aircraft to our AEMs. We are the custodians of four CAP airplanes stationed at KCOS and KPUB, several Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) drones, specialized aerial photography gear, two CAP vehicles, and an extensive VHF and HF radio communications network. With these Emergency Services resources we support federal, state, and local agencies by providing search and rescue (SAR), disaster relief (DR), and other community services in time of need. As the only composite squadron in Colorado Springs, our squadron has both adult and youth program components. Our CAP cadets, ages 12 to 21, meet weekly and participate in a variety of activities under the Cadet Program's four curriculum areas of leadership, aerospace, fitness, and character. Through academics, activities, mentoring, and service learning our cadets aspire to the highest ideals of the CAP Cadet Program's mission to "develop dynamic Americans and aerospace leaders." Our cadets also enjoy regular cadet orientation flights, ground team training, sUAS operations, model rocketry, radio communications, powered airplane flight training, color guard, and many other aerospace and leadership activities. The Pikes Peak Composite Squadron meets several times every month for a variety of meetings, professional development, flying, and emergency services training. Vosler NCO Academy (always check our website calendar for current info). Our entire squadron meets monthly on the third Thursday for a General Membership meeting at the Forest L. Vosler NCO Academy on Peterson Space Force Base from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Semper Vigilans!
