This morning I had the pleasure of touring the Jackson Fuller substation with some of our Utilities Board members. This location houses our city's first battery energy storage system with a capacity of 100 megawatts.

Thank you to our board members for coming out to learn about the battery storage technology and how we can use stored energy during peak demand times when it’s traditionally more expensive to generate or purchase fuel on the market.

As recreational interest on Pikes Peak increases, we're committed to collaborative solutions that ensure continued protection of our water infrastructure and the watershed.

Yesterday, I joined Governor Jared Polis and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) Director Laura Clellan (pictured with me) to sign a lease agreement allowing CPW to manage enhanced recreation – including camping – at Rosemont Reservoir. We're appreciative of the additional oversight this will provide at one of our more remote reservoirs in the Pikes Peak region.

National Lineworker Appreciation Day is an important reminder of the skill and courage required to keep our communities powered, often in the most challenging conditions.

I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the Colorado Springs Utilities linemen and their peers across the state. It was a privilege to have our team represented among state leaders and fellow utility executives to celebrate these professionals.
