September is National Preparedness Month

This month, ask yourself these questions to ensure you and your loved ones are prepared for an emergency:
- Does our household have an emergency supply kit?
- Do we have a communication and evacuation plan?
- How do we stay informed in an emergency?
- What hazards are common in our area?

Next month is September, and we all know what that means: National Preparedness Month! Each year focuses on a specific theme, and this year’s is Americans Stand Ready. In accordance with the theme, we’ll be discussing the duty one has to oneself and others when it comes to emergency preparedness.

Each week will have relevant subject matter that relates to the overall theme:

Week 1 – Duty to Yourself
Week 2 – Duty to Loved Ones
Week 3 – Duty to Neighbors
Week 4 – Duty to Community

Join us this month by following along and sharing ways you foster preparedness in your own life.

🎉 A National Night Out to Remember 🤝

Last week, hosted our National Night Out event at the Tierra Vista Community Center where families got to meet first responders, connect with neighbors, and have fun! The annual event is held to help bring communities together and introduce them to the various resources that the installation offers.

With 15 event partners providing activities like face-painting and a petting zoo, it shows how is stronger together.

🐕Paws what you're doing 🐾

Today is National Dog Day, and we are highlighting one of the Chaplain's programs that helps support the incredible Airmen and Guardians here at !

The Chaplain Corps partners with non-profit organizations to bring certified therapy dogs directly to offices around Schriever SFB. This unique program is designed to promote wellness, relieve mission stress, and bring a little extra joy to the workplace.

Hey , we listened!

The traffic light at Curtis Road and Irwin Drive is scheduled to be removed around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25.

The intersection will be returning to its original configuration to improve safety and optimize traffic flow. Please exercise caution, reduce your speed when approaching the intersection, and watch for updated signage as drivers adjust to the new pattern.

We received feedback regarding the traffic light's impact on commuters entering and exiting through the Irwin Gate, as well as concerns regarding outbound traffic in the morning. SBD 41 has been monitoring the traffic flow situation throughout the Enoch Gate construction and continues to work with on-base subject-matter experts and our partners at El Paso County to find effective solutions where needed.

AS OF 12 AUGUST, ALL LIGHTS ARE FULLY OPERATIONAL.

🚨UPDATE TO CURTIS/IRWIN INTERSECTION🚨

, due to an accident earlier today, the intersection of Curtis Rd. and Irwin Dr. has been changed to a four-way stop. 🛑

The lights at the intersection will be flashing red, and all vehicles must come to a complete stop before proceeding through.

This change is expected to lead to increased traffic congestion for the morning and evening commute. Please plan accordingly and build in additional travel time.

is working with El Paso County officials to repair the traffic lights as quickly as possible.

is proud to support the 3rd Space Operations Sqaudron and Mission Delta 9 as they plan and execute missions like VICTUS HAZE.
The everyday support that we provide across Schriever SFB enables our installation partners to focus on their mission. When comes together, there's no limit to what we can accomplish.

The 3rd Space Operations Squadron (3 SOPS) under Combat Forces Command’s Mission Delta 9 gave a presentation on the Squadron’s involvement in VICTUS HAZE. VICTUS HAZE is a multi-launch, multi-vehicle mission designed to demonstrate the Nation’s capability to rapidly acquire, launch, and operate space vehicles on operationally relevant timelines in response to urgent on-orbit threats, a function crucial to today’s modern threat environment in space.

3 SOPS led the planning for a complex on-orbit mission conducted post-launch. Their meticulous coordination with commercial partners was vital in executing a Notice-to-Launch order, resulting in a successful launch 16 hours after notification, beating an established 24-hour goal by eight hours. This proves the ability of the United States Space Force to conduct advanced Space Domain Awareness operations, successfully tracking and characterizing passive and actively maneuvering spacecraft during the operation. It also validated critical inspection capabilities. Missions like VICTUS HAZE prove the U.S. Space Force remains ready to achieve space control when called upon at a moment’s notice.

Congratulations to 3 SOPS’ Capt. Alyse Parker, 1st Lt. Kristi Fortenberry, Tech Sgt. Gretchen Gregory, Sgt. Kevin Thomas and Sgt. Jeffrey Rickard, who were all awarded Air and Space Achievement Medals for their role.
