Yesterday afternoon we responded to a mutual aid request from Genesee Fire Department for a fire in the canyon on Highway 95 near the Genesee Spur Road. We responded with 3 Brush Trucks, 2 Attack Engines and 1 Chief Officer and assisted with initial attack as well structure protection for most of the afternoon into the evening before being released. As always, we are happy to assist our neighbors when they call for help because we know all to well the rolls will be reversed some day.

Blyton Landing Fire final update.

Hand crews finished connecting fire lines and mopping up on the east flank of the fire today. Containment now sits at 100% and all crews are being released from the fire.

***Edit*** all level 1 evacuations for Rimrock Rd have been removed. Sorry for missing that earlier.

Thank you again to all of our mutual aid partners who came to help Wednesday, the strike team and hand crew that came in to assist over the last couple days as well as those making things happen behind the scene for us. We appreciate you all!

Blyton fire evening update.

Crews made significant progress on the fire lines today. As of tonight, the fire has remained in its original footprint and has not grown since last night keeping the acres at approximately 350. With the work accomplished today, the fire now sits at 65% containment with full containment expected tomorrow after the operational period.

Handcrews will be back out there tomorrow morning working on the last flank of the fire line to tie it all together.

The NE strike team assigned to the fire will be demobilized tomorrow morning to return home or head to a new assignment.

Blyton Landing Fire update

Forward progression of the fire was stopped late last night. Local crews assisted by regional mutual aid partners as well as air resources were able to get control of the fire and keep it from reaching farmland. The fire is 0% contained as of now.

State mobilization crews are on scene today mopping up hot spots and constructing hand line on the fire's edge.

High temps, low relative humidity and varying winds will play a factor in containment efforts today.

A level 1 evacuation notice, "be ready," remains in effect for residents on Rimrock road. This will remain in effect throughout the day and will be reevaluated this evening.

Please contine to avoid the area if at all possible.

Another update will happen this evening.

Thank you

Join us at the high school next week! Your volunteers will be there dishing out ice cream Monday night (24th) and running the bbq supporting the Colton FFA chapter Tuesday night (25th) starting at 5pm both nights!

We will also be answering questions about the fire department, looking for new volunteers to join our ranks, and answering questions about the levy lid lift that is going on the November ballot.

There might even be some big red trucks there for the kids.

We promise not to eat all the ice cream before hand!

📚 Save the Date! 🍎✏️

The 2026–2027 school year is almost here, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back!

Mark your calendars for Back-to-School Nights, our Secondary Open House, Dual Credit/Running Start Information Night, and the first day of school. Be sure to check out the graphic below for all the important dates.

Based on feedback from parents and families, we’ve made a change this year by hosting our Secondary Open House before the start of the school year. We hope this gives students and families the opportunity to meet teachers, get familiar with schedules, and start the year feeling confident and prepared.

We look forward to seeing our Wildcats soon! 🐾💙

Last night around 7:45pm Fire Dist #14 personnel were requested by Asotin County Fire District #1 to respond as part of a mutual aid agreement to the Alpowa Fire west of Clarkston on Highway 12 in Asotin County. 2 brush trucks and 1 chief officer responded and spent all night providing structure protection on several houses in the West Lake Drive area. Crews prepped houses by removing fuels from around them, setting sprinklers up and prewetting trees and other things best they could. Early this morning the wind finally settled down and our crews were able to be released from the fire arriving back home around 4am.

We also recently sent a crew to the South Palouse River fire in Colfax when the county wide request was paged. This has been a busy summer. There has already been more county wide mutual aid fire requests and state mobilization fires in the county and surrounding areas then we can ever remember in 1 year and there is a lot of summer left.

Last night a little after 10pm we were dispatched to a wildland fire down on the river on Highway 128 across from Clarkston. Asotin County Fire District #1 was also dispatched as part of our automatic mutual aid agreement with them.

We would like to thank them for their quick response across the river which prevented this fire from potentially becoming a much larger incident for us after a very busy weekend for both agencies.

We would also like to take the time now to remind people that it is extremely dry out and please try to prevent doing anything outside that could give off a spark. It is also illegal to use a burn barrel all year round.
