On 10-4-23, at about 5:15am, Manhattan Beach Police Department Motorcycle Officer Chad Swanson was involved in a fatal on duty traffic collision on the 405 Freeway.

Officer Swanson was a 13 year veteran of the Police Department and also served as a member of the MBPD SWAT Team and Honor Guard. His service was marked with a strong sense of duty, professionalism, and a genuine desire to make the community safer. He was not only a colleague, but also a friend to many, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Officer Swanson is survived by his wife and three young boys (4, 2, and 10 months old).

The Manhattan Beach Police Officers’ Association has created a donation fund via the Fund a Hero Program. Please visit the link in the bio to support Officer Swanson’s family.

𝑨 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒐'𝒔 𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆

Time to come home dear brother
Your tour of duty through
You’ve given as much as anyone
Could be expected to do

Just a few steps further
The smoke will start to clear
Others here will guide you
You have no need of fear

You have not failed your brothers
You clearly gave it all
And through your selfless actions
Others will hear the call

So take your place of honor
Among those who have gone before
And know you will be remembered
For now and evermore.

By- Robert Longley

The Colton Police Department will forever remember each and every Officer. Today May 15th, is National Peace Officers Memorial Day.
Gone but never forgotten.
