Be advised that the County will begin work on a culvert located under Rt. 537 near Muhlenbrink Road starting Tuesday, September 8, 2020. This will result in Route 537 being closed for approximately nine (9) days from the intersection of Route 34 to Laird Road. The detour is as follows:

Weekend Comfort Stations

Firehouse #1 located at ‪123 County Road‬ 537 will be open this weekend ‪from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm‬ for residents in need of a place to cool off, charge devices, access WiFi, and collect water and ice. Please be reminded that social distancing and masks are required. The outdoor water hoses are still accessible at the library and Firehouse #2.

🚨⚠️🚨 Generator Safety 🚨⚠️⚠️

As the community continues to utilize generators at our houses, the fire department has seen an increase in calls for residents Carbon Monoxide detectors going off. We ask for everyone to practice good generator safety and keep the generators far from the house where fumes may enter. See the following safety tips.

JCP&L has many tree crews actively working in town to remove the trees from the wires. This is the first process in getting power restored. Attached is the most recent update from JCP&L.

⚠️⚠️⚠️Attention Residents ⚠️⚠️⚠️

The town has opened up a cooling, charging and water station at the township library. If you are in need of a place to charge your cell phone or a place to cool off please come to the library. There will also be a water source available to fill any water containers for animal and bathroom needs. Please bring your own containers to carry the water as we can not supply them. We also can not supply cords for your phone charger so please bring your own. The library will be open from 9am - 430pm.

Each Fire Department has also opened up a charging station as well as an area for residents to fill water containers. Again we are unable to provide containers for water or phone chargers so please bring your own.

⚠️⚠️⚠️IMPORTANT MESSAGE ⚠️⚠️⚠️

Please be advised that a vast majority of the residents in town are without power. The Department of Public Works and Emergency Services have been working tirelessly all day. At this time the Department of Public Works have cleared all of the streets that they can at this time. While there are numerous streets that are still closed with trees down making them impassable, they are unable to touch or clear them until JCP&L deem them safe due to wires being entangled in the trees. We ask for our community’s cooperation in the matter as this will be a prolonged event. The Mayor and Township Committee have been in contact with JCP&L and are doing everything in their power to expedite getting the power restored. We ask that everyone make sure they keep clear of any power or utility lines that are down as they still may be energized. Please contact JCP&L for time frames as well to report any power lines down. Please share this message with all your friends and family of the community. Thank you all for your cooperation.

🚨🌴⛈💨🌪 Tropical Storm Isaias Tuesday Morning update 🌪💨⛈🌴🚨

A Tornado Warning has been issued for our area until 4pm. If you haven’t done so yet please secure all loose objects in your yard. Wind will remain the main concern as the storm has tracked a little more west and rainfall totals for our area have went down.

As always should you loose power please report it to JCP&L at 888-544-4877, text OUT to 544487 or online at www.jcp-l.com. Should you come across any downed power lines stay back as they may be live and call the police department at 732-462-4343

🚨🚨🌴⛈💨Tropical Storm Isaias update. 🚨🚨🌴⛈💨

The area is under a Tropical Storm Warning and a Flash Flood Watch until Thursday. Tropical storm force winds, up to 73mph are expected in the next 36 hours. Conditions will diminish tonight into the day tomorrow. These winds have the potential to cause down power lines and trees. There may be isolated tornadoes in the area as well. 2-4” of rain are possible with flash flooding.

Please take this time to secure any patio furniture as well as any tents that may be up so they do not become a fly projectile. As always please stay away from any downed power lines as they may live and report them to 9-1-1.

Please see the latest update for Tropical Storm Isaias. There still much uncertainty about the storm so stay tuned for further updates. Please make preparations and secure any outdoor tents and furniture. As we monitor the storm and receive updates we will forward them out.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ There currently is a power outage in the northwest area of town in the Clover Hill section of town. JCP&L advises there’s approximately 540 residents of town without power and a time frame is not available at this time. We will advise when more information is available.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 5pm tonight. Hail, wind, and lightning are all possibilities. Please stay safe.
