Since it’s founding in 1976, SACA Food Shelf and Thrift Store has remained committed to providing basic needs services to Columbia Heights, Fridley, Hilltop, Spring Lake Park and NE Minneapolis. We have developed systems using community input so that we can provide the best care possible in order to accomplish our mission of providing food and resources to those in need, while empowering dignity and independence to those we serve in our community. To begin accessing the services you may need from SACA, call 763.789.2444 to setup an appointment. We will always feed you! Make a difference in your community by making a donation to SACA. Each $1 donated equals 10lbs of food! NOTE: The Thrift Store is current closed and we are unable to accept items.

Morning Markets by the numbers! ☀️ Since launching our Morning Market program, 913 families have booked a Friday appointment and we have distributed almost 30,000 pounds of fresh food, pet food, and hygiene items!

Morning Markets happen every Friday from 10 am - 1 pm. Appointments are required, and all neighbors are welcome!

SACA relies on partnerships with other non-profits, organizations, and businesses to make our work possible! And this summer, we launched a very exciting partnership!

We were THRILLED to partner with Anita at Shining Light Farm through Second Harvest Heartland's local farm program. Anita stocked our market with fresh, local produce and African vegetables throughout the growing season. Anita's vegetables provided a delicious and nutritious connection to home for our African neighbors.

This partnership provides a steady income for local farmers like Anita and access to fresh, local, and culturally relevant foods for our neighbors. It's a win-win for everyone and we hope to continue and grow the program next year!

Roof Update: It is LOUD today! 🙉 Our market and thrift store will be open as usual today from 12 pm - 4 pm, but it will be noisy as crews are working on the roof.

We're excited to announce that Toys for Joy has expanded their reach into southern Anoka County! 🎁Toys for Joy is celebrating 40 years of providing holiday toys and gifts to residents of Anoka County. Residents of Columbia Heights, Fridley, Spring Lake Park, and Hilltop are now eligible to apply for their toy program which offers toys, books, games, and holiday meal fixings for families who participate.

Because Toys for Joy has expanded their reach and capacity, SACA is not hosting our own holiday toy giveaway this year. If you are interested in receiving toys, please register through the Toys for Joy site.

SACA will still be collecting toys for the Toys for Joy distribution. Donations of new, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at our donation door between 10 am and 4 pm Mondays through Thursdays.

We’re thrilled to welcome ✨ 3 NEW STAFF MEMBERS ✨ to our team!

1. Tori is our new Volunteer Manger! She’s here to support with volunteer scheduling, recognition, and systems!

2. Parker is our new Market Lead. Parker helps with stocking and inventory.

3. Zekima is our GreenCorps member who is working on food rescue, recycling, and waste diversion projects.

We’re super excited to have a fully staffed team for the first time in our new building! Say hello next time you see them at SACA! 😊

Exciting news! We're expanding our Morning Market program. ☀️Neighbors can now book appointments weekly (no longer just once a month). Hygiene offerings will rotate weekly based on availability.
