Are you an obituary reader? What draws you to them? Do you think you will have to write one in the future? How will you do that? Are you curious about the idea of writing your own obituary? What might that sound like?

Come for a free conversation and education about all things obituary--tools, hints, costs, examples--, with Marilaurice Hemlock. Marilaurice is a funeral celebrant, death educator, retired liturgist and pastoral minister, lover of words, writer of obituaries, and active member of the Land Conservation Natural Burial Project.

Medicare can be complicated, but Minnesota Aging Pathways is here to help.

Whether you’ve been on Medicare for a few years and just need a refresher, or you’re brand new to Medicare, this free Medicare 101 class run by Minnesota Aging Pathways will help you understand the basics so you can manage your health care options.

This class will be on Thursday, September 10th from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the CHPS Family Center.

Tomorrow is the last day of our Blooming Heights Farm Stand! Head on up to the CHPS Family Center from 3:15-4:15 p.m. to purchase some produce planted, grown and harvested by CHPS students!

Tomorrow, we will have cucumbers, Thai chilis, bak choi, tomatoes, green beans, kale, collard greens, red & yellow onions, and flowers! 🥒🌶️🥬🍅🫛🧅

This is the last day of the farm stand, so make sure to stop by! We have had a great summer selling our produce! All profits go to the CHPS Blooming Heights Garden!

CHPS Early Childhood Family Education Teacher, Olivia Timmons, will be out at Kordiak Park from 9:30-11:00 a.m. tomorrow (August 12th) with activities for any child(ren) 0-5 years old who attends!

Feel free to bring a snack for your child. There will also be time for the children to play on the playground with other attendees.

No registration is needed for this event! Just show up and play! This is the last of our Summer Park Meet-Ups for this year!

Join us for a fun and creative “Parent and Me” Painting Class where you and your child can bond while learning to paint step-by-step with a professional instructor. Perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike, these classes offer a unique opportunity to create beautiful artwork together in a relaxed and supportive environment. One child and one adult will share one canvas. Jill Mason of Art Van Go Painting Parties will lead this fun two-hour class!

Art Van Go Painting Parties with Jill

This class is recommended for ages 4–15, but anyone is welcome, as the experience is what you would like it to be with your child! Classes are open to any parent, grandparent or guardian and their child.

This class will take place at Highland Elementary in the Art Room (Room #114).

A few weeks ago, we made the cutest paintings with Art Van Go Painting Parties with Jill during our Parent & Me Painting Class! Our young artists were able to create their own painting with their parent/guardian to take home. 🎨🖌🐢

We have one more Parent & Me painting class this summer, then we will have many fun art and Parent & Me class opportunities this fall! Keep an eye out for the Fall Community Connections coming soon!

Join us on Tuesday, August 18th, in Blooming Heights Garden to harvest, clean, cut and create your own custom jar of quick pickled veggies! This Adult Enrichment Quick Pickled Veggies class will be from 5:00-6:30 p.m. and is $20.

Pickling is an ancient technique for preserving food for a long period of time! With this basic pickling recipe, you will learn how to prepare a variety of vegetables! Join CHPS Agriculture Specialist, Melissa Trent, in harvesting fresh vegetables from our school garden and pickling them. You will make and take a 12 oz jar of vegetables of your choice, including radishes, beets, cucumbers, beans or carrots. You will also learn about different herbs and spices that can change the taste of your pickled veggies.

This class will take place in Blooming Heights Garden, located behind the CHPS Family Center.
