Melton Memorial Observatory The Melton Memorial Observatory has re-opened for face-to-face stargazing on clear Monday evenings! Join us for Public Observing on clear Monday nights.

Visiting the observatory is always FREE! Email us if you would like to set up a private tour for your school, scout, church, or any other group.

The Melton Observatory will be closed tonight (5/25/2026) in observance of Memorial Day.

We do plan to be open for public viewing throughout most of the Summer, but with vacations and seasonal thunderstorms our availability will be spotty at best. As usual, we'll post status updates each Monday morning.

Unfortunately, tonight's forecast calls for substantial cloud cover during our 9-11 PM viewing window. So we're going to cancel for today (4/13/2026) and try again next week on the 20th.
