Sadly, due to this year's frequent rains and colder weather, the bees in our area were not able to capture most of the Black Locust nectar that produces light honey.
BUT!
If Light is your preference, I just bottled 12 - 22 oz jars of Chunk Honey made from last spring's early harvestl.
The creamed honey is also the same early variety. Both are delightful and available at my home kiosk.

The Spring Nectar flow is in full Swing.. and so is Swarm Season! Beekeepers manage Spring Colony Growth and try to hit the Goldie Locks zone of worker populations: Too small and the Honey yield is low, too big and they Swarm out and the Honey yield is low. Luke at Cedar Ridge Meat Farm in Blairstown, notified me of this swarm from one of my colonies and I was able to recover it and put it in it's new home.

One Specie's allergen is another specie's protein source for making nutritious baby food. The bees have been collecting pollen since early March and some hives are so strong they actually overfill the combs with pollen and impede the Queen's egg laying and brood production (seen here). The more "pollen bound" the brood area becomes, the more likely the bees will swarm out and the Beekeeper lose his honey crop in that colony. The bees pollenate the blossoms as they bring in their colorful powdery harvest.
