On Memorial Day, Maj. Gen. Wallace was honored to attend a Memorial Day Service hosted by Gold Star family, Mr. & Mrs. Caughman.

The service was a meaningful opportunity to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation and to recognize the strength and resilience of the families they left behind.

We are grateful to the Caughman family for hosting this special tribute and for helping ensure that the legacy of our fallen heroes is never forgotten.

Army Reserve Ambassador Jim Cardo recently attended The Citadel's commissioning and graduation ceremonies where three of his Army Reserve Minuteman Scholarship Awardees were commissioned and received bachelor’s degrees. Congratulations to 2LT Ophelium Nguyen, 2LT Jacob Silka, and 2LT Jacob Willis and welcome to the U.S. Army Reserve.

The atmosphere was one of pure accomplishment today as 157 Army Reserve Soldiers graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson.

We are especially proud to highlight SPC Jack E. Higgins, from Bethesda, MD, who earned the title of Soldier Leader of the Cycle. His performance exemplifies the discipline and heart of the American Soldier. Congratulations to all our graduates on this significant milestone!

This week, the 81st Readiness Division Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Patricia R. Wallace, had the distinct honor of serving as the keynote speaker at Richland School District Two’s 2nd Annual Military Service Commitment Ceremony.

Students from across the district took a remarkable step forward, committing themselves to military service and answering the call to serve our nation. Their courage, dedication, and sense of purpose reflect the very best of the next generation of leaders.

Thank you to each of these students for your willingness to serve something greater than yourselves. Your commitment to our country is inspiring, and we are proud to celebrate this important milestone with you.

Army Reserve Ambassador (ARA) Roger Trout recently supported the 321st Military Intelligence Battalion Family Day in Orlando, FL. During the event, ARA Trout briefed Soldiers and their families on the ARA mission and the incredible educational opportunities available through the Army Reserve Minuteman Scholarship. He also collaborated with representatives from The University of Tampa and The University of Central Florida to further advance the Minuteman Scholarship Program. ARA Trout’s efforts are making a difference in building bridges of communication between the Army Reserve and our communities.

Last Friday, the 81st Readiness Division had the pleasure of supporting the retirement ceremony of former Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Jamelle C. Shawley in Washington, DC. She served as 81st Commanding General from 2020-2022. Lt. Gen. Michelle A. Schmidt presided as host.

She retires with more than 30 years of excellent service, and a career defined by exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication of taking care of Soldiers.

Her immeasurable impact on The Wildcat Nation and the United States Army Reserve will be felt for years to come, and we are incredibly honored to have been part of this momentous occasion!

Maj. Gen. Shawley, thank you for your leadership, mentorship, and service!

Join us in saluting Maj. Gen. Shawley and wishing her a very happy, well-earned retirement.

Building bridges for the future force, Army Reserve Ambassador Mike Hauser from Kentucky recently addressed the Pre-Command Course at the Army Recruiting and Retention College in Fort Knox.

ARA Hauser highlighted the vital connection between the ARA Program, the Minuteman Scholarship, and local recruiting efforts. ARA Hauser’s efforts and those of his fellow ARAs help us find the next generation of Army Reserve Soldiers.
