International master’s student Laiba Zai is the first recipient of the J-School’s Robert F. Youngblood Investigative Fellowship, which will support her work on long-term investigative and data-driven projects with a $9,000 stipend and advanced training.

Named for journalist and editor Robert F. Youngblood, MA ’15 — and endowed by his widow, Ursula Liu — the yearlong fellowship provides support for complex, multifaceted stories that can otherwise be difficult to complete within the structure of a school year.

Congratulations to Peter Baugh, BJ '19, whose work will be included in "The Year's Best Sports Writing 2026."

"I'm deeply humbled for my work to be included in the 2026 edition of 'The Year's Best Sports Writing,'" wrote Baugh on X, formerly Twitter. "I read this collection growing up and have a hard time expressing what it means to me seeing my name with so many incredible writers."

Baugh is a staff writer at The Athletic. Triumph Books' annual sports anthology will be released on Oct. 6.

KOMU morning anchor Marvis Herring and KOMU meteorologist Kesley Kobielusz stopped by Marching Mizzou's practice Wednesday afternoon to produce content for this evening’s newscasts. Both were marching band members in college, and Kobielusz was in Marching Mizzou.

Side “note”: The J-School ranks in the top five schools — excluding the School of Music — represented in Marching Mizzou.

Filmmaker-in-Chief Robert Greene will premiere his new documentary, “Too Much Sugar,” at the Venice Film Festival on Sept. 3.
