PTSD Awareness Month is about more than sharing information—it’s about compassion and creating spaces where people feel safe enough to speak without fear of judgment. It’s about reminding survivors that their stories matter and that healing is possible, even if it takes time.

If you know someone living with PTSD, offer patience, listen with care, and believe them. And if you are struggling yourself, please know you are not alone. There are people and organizations ready to support you, walk with you, and help you through the difficult days.

If you or someone you know is struggling, there’s help available:
NAMI Helpline: 7-800-950-NAMI (6264) M-F, 10AM-10PM ET
Crisis Text Line: Text 741741

988 Su***de and Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988
Veterans: Call 988 and press 1

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded that small actions can save lives. 💙

New signs on the Ashley Phosphate Road overpass now display the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline along with a QR code connecting people to crisis intervention resources. This important initiative by the City of North Charleston, local leaders, Public Works, and SCDOT brings hope and support directly into the community.

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is always available. Call or text 988.

Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed in the U.S. since 1949. Each year, millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental health condition. In May, NAMI joins the national movement to raise awareness about mental health.

Each year, we fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families.

Routine screenings can improve earlier recognition of drug-induced movement
disorders, such as tardive dyskinesia (TD). While at least 800,000 adults in the U.S.
live with TD, ~60% remain undiagnosed. Visit TalkAboutTD.com for information on
screening for TD.
