Law Enforcement Training Institute - LETI Class A Certified Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy

At the Law Enforcement Training Institute, we offer a Class A-certified 600-hour basic training academy that exceeds Missouri's minimum requirements for peace officer certification. You receive real-life, hands-on training — from how to protect yourself, to how to take notes, to how to conduct an arrest. You learn practical application of law enforcement techniques as well as gain access to certifications not typically provided in other academies' basic POST-approved courses.

Special thanks to the Central Missouri Humane Society for allowing us to use adoptable cats and dog during the National Animal Cruelty Investigations School – Advanced Investigator – University of Missouri Extension for the Body Condition Scoring (BCS) practical. Thank you as well to Harry for bringing Truman and to Zane for bringing his ferrets. Their participation helped make it a lively and engaging afternoon for everyone involved.

BCS is an important tool for cruelty investigators, providing an objective way to assess an animal’s physical condition and helping document potential neglect cases. We greatly appreciate the Humane Society’s support in providing this valuable hands-on learning opportunity.

Defensive tactics is not about physical strength—it’s about control, confidence, and the ability to make effective decisions when it matters most. Recruits put in the work and demonstrate that success comes from discipline, training and technique - not just toughness.

A big thank you to Diana for bringing her four horses to the National Animal Cruelty Investigations School – Advanced Investigator class in Columbia, Missouri!

Thank you as well to Instructor Christy for sharing her knowledge and guiding students through hands-on equine training. Students learned body condition scoring, hoof evaluation, proper leading techniques, and how to safely fit a halter.

Hands-on experience is an important part of animal cruelty investigations, giving students the opportunity to build practical skills, recognize signs of neglect, and gain confidence working with horses in real-world situations.

We appreciate Diana and Christy for helping make this training such a valuable learning experience!
