We are an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife in Tuolumne and nearby counties, with special focus on birds and squirrels. Our goals are to provide quality rescue, treatment, rehabilitation and release assistance to orphaned, injured and/or diseased wildlife while offering education and public awareness of our native wildli

fe to the community. We have permits from California Fish and Wildlife and U.S. Fish and Wildlife to do this work. Our volunteers have the facilities and approved training to ensure that the wildlife we care for receives the best possible care and the greatest chance of being released back into the wild.

This raven had fish line tangled around his right foot which tied him to a tree branch where he hung upside down for 24 hrs before someone was able to climb the tree and cut him down. We wrapped the leg into a bent position for the first few days and replaced that with a shoe yesterday and the raven is standing upright without using its wings for support. He was also starving on intake so the fish line had been a problem for some time. Please pick up fish line and discard it appropriately.

We went to check on this young Red-tailed Hawk because the homeowner was concerned about seeing it over a 24 hour period on the ground, not flying. An exam showed it had eaten a large meal (dead squirrel had been nearby) and once digested, the bird was flying in our cage. We returned the bird back to the property and within 5 minutes, one of the parents showed up. The kid was last seen by the homeowner on a low tree branch with the parent above it on a higher branch.

One of the last of the Western Gray Squirrels we’ve had in care this spring. They were only a few weeks old when their nest was trimmed out of a tree in Groveland. They will be released back there later this week now that the temperature is dropping.

The cooler weather allowed us to release some of the Western Gray Squirrels we’ve raised, a few stopped almost immediately to eat breakfast, a few didn’t want to come out of the box at all but the rest climbed the nearest trees and when they didn’t find a ceiling they just kept climbing to the top.
