Proud to see Senate Bill 445 across the finish line in the Maryland General Assembly. đźš’

This is a huge win for firefighters across our state — and it didn’t happen by chance. The Professional Fire Fighters of Maryland drove this effort every step of the way.

This legislation reflects a clear and fair standard:

• Fire Fighters will receive overtime after working a 42-hour work week
• Ensures fair overtime based on the 168-hour / 28-day schedule
• Requires clear, transparent pay and accountability

Fair pay for fair work — that’s what this legislation delivers. Now it moves to Governor Wes Moore for his final signature!

Our members make a difference every single day!

Kudos to the firefighters who received Gift of Life awards for their life-saving actions during two cardiac arrests that occurred on the same afternoon earlier this winter.

The crew of Engine 91 and medical duty officer, EMS2, responded to both calls, earning them not one, but two Gift of Life awards. Pictured here are just some of the personnel who responded to the incidents and earned awards.

As a reminder, for every minute that someone in cardiac arrest goes without CPR, their chance of survivability decreases by 10%. Calling 911 right away, starting CPR, and using an AED can help save that person’s life.
