Last week, several members of the SC Competes team gathered for a fun night out to support our colleague, Program Manager Mendy Lewis, as she took the stage in Workshop Theatre's production of Footloose.

It was great to step away from the day-to-day, spend time together, and enjoy a fun night out while supporting Mendy as she took the stage. We love opportunities like this to connect as a team and celebrate the talents and accomplishments of our colleagues beyond the workplace.

What a great kickoff to our first AI in the AM session!

We had a fantastic turnout and an engaging conversation with Jack Teitel, Founder of Title AI, discussing practical AI applications for businesses today.

Jack shared a live demonstration of how AI skills can streamline workflows, including automatically creating branded documents with logos, colors, and fonts — while also discussing when to use existing AI tools versus building custom solutions.

One of the biggest audience questions was whether paid AI subscriptions are worth it. According to Jack, the short answer was yes, especially for access to more advanced features and capabilities.

SC Competes was proud to host students from Georgetown University for a discussion on South Carolina’s economic transformation, foreign direct investment strategy, and advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

The program featured conversations with SC Competes initiative directors, S.C. Department of Commerce, South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce, and SC NEXUS. After their visit to Columbia, the students headed to BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC BMW Group Company for a deeper dive into the impact that BMW has had on the state of SC.
